About the Business
Welcome to the East Quogue Historical Society, a vibrant organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of East Quogue, New York. Located at 580 Montauk Highway, our society serves as a gateway to the past, offering insights into the unique heritage of our charming hamlet.
Founded in 1995, our mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret the ongoing history of East Quogue and its people. We are proud to have initiated the East Quogue Hamlet Heritage Area, a project led by Elizabeth S. Haderer and Mary F. Phillips, which highlights the significance of our well-preserved historic buildings and landmarks. In June 2010, we presented a comprehensive compilation of East Quogue's history to the Town of Southampton Landmarks and Historic Districts Board, underscoring our commitment to safeguarding our local heritage.
Under the guidance of our Webmaster and Digital Archivist, Sarah Mendenhall Luhmer, we strive to make our historical resources accessible to the community and beyond. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a local resident, or a visitor, we invite you to explore the stories and events that have shaped East Quogue over the years.
