About the Business
Welcome to Ma's House & BIPOC Art Studio
Nestled on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation in Southampton, New York, Ma's House & BIPOC Art Studio serves as a vibrant art space dedicated to uplifting the voices and talents of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Led by Indigenous artist Jeremy Dennis, this unique gallery offers a residency program, shared studio space, and a communal library, all housed in a family home originally built in the 1960s.
Our Mission
Ma’s House is committed to building a more inclusive artistic community by fostering connections within the Shinnecock Indian Nation and extending its embrace to BIPOC artists and art enthusiasts in the Hamptons and beyond. As a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization chartered in 2021, we aim to provide a nurturing environment where creativity and cultural heritage can thrive.
Events and Exhibitions
Join us for our 2024 Friendraiser event on Thursday, September 19, at the historic Canoe Place Inn. This gathering will celebrate the "Pillars of Our Community" who have made significant contributions to connecting and uplifting BIPOC voices. Don't miss our featured exhibitions, such as "Shinnecock Speaks," which highlights the rich cultural narratives of the Shinnecock Indian Nation, and "State of The Nation," exploring politics and social justice through a BIPOC lens.
Get Involved
Whether you're an artist, art lover, or supporter, there are numerous ways to get involved with Ma’s House. Consider attending our events, sponsoring a workshop or residency, or contributing financially to help us sustain and expand our programs. We also welcome volunteers and donations of furniture and household items as we continue to enhance our facilities.
Internship Opportunities
We offer exciting paid internships for BIPOC youth interested in pursuing careers in the arts and museum fields, thanks to the support of the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation. Gain valuable hands-on experience and contribute to meaningful projects in a supportive community setting.
