About the Business
Welcome to Calverton National Cemetery, a place of honor and remembrance located in Wading River, New York. As one of the largest national cemeteries in the United States, Calverton serves as a resting place for those who have served our nation with distinction. Established in 1978 on a 902-acre tract of land, the cemetery was created to meet the needs of the greater New York area, home to nearly three million veterans and their families.
Calverton National Cemetery offers a serene and respectful environment for families to honor their loved ones. The cemetery accommodates casketed burials, in-ground interment of cremains, and placement in columbaria. An ossuary is also available for those who choose this option. The Veterans Legacy Memorial (VLM) digital platform allows families and friends to share tributes, photos, and stories, preserving the legacy of nearly 10 million veterans.
The cemetery is committed to honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans, accommodating special requests for weekend burials for religious purposes and service members killed in action. Eligibility for burial includes all members of the armed forces who have met active duty service requirements and were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. Eligible family members of veterans may also be interred at the cemetery.
Visitors are welcomed to the cemetery but are reminded of its solemn purpose. Activities such as cycling, picnicking, and recreational sports are prohibited to maintain the dignity of the grounds. Floral tributes are encouraged, with guidelines provided to ensure the cemetery's pristine appearance.
Calverton National Cemetery is easily accessible via the Long Island Expressway (495) and is approximately 30 minutes from Long Island MacArthur Airport. For assistance with gravesite locations or burial scheduling, cemetery personnel are available during office hours.
We invite you to visit Calverton National Cemetery to pay your respects and honor the brave men and women who have served our country. For more information and educational materials, please explore the resources available on our website.

"Well maintained and respectful in appearance. I wish they didn't have to remove the things we place by or on the grave, but I understand that a sweep is necessary every once in a while so the grounds don't get overrun and polluted. (Still, those little bouquets are expensive.)"
"I was a kid when my grandfather died, and I loved him. I remember whenever he watched me, He gave my 5$ whenever my dad came to pick me up. I felt at home with him, and now he is gone. Calverton Is an amazing cemetery. I feel connected with him everytime I come, Although It has been a while since he passed on, I cry sometimes out of nowhere whenever I see something that somewhat relates to him. I just visited a few hours ago and i'm writing this in tears. Thank you calverton for keeping my grandfather in a beautiful place."
