"I sued my prior landlords, a married couple in the huntington area. The husband in the marriage tried to rip me off on my security deposit the day i moved in and my movers told me to be wary of this landlord who also happened to be an incompetent money-hungry repairman working for universe home services on long island. The landlords ultimately kept part of my security deposit to pay to maintain their 70 year old plumbing. The landlords didn't bother to tell me about charging me for their problems until the day i moved out! I took these landlords to court, the arbritator saw how little sense their case made, how their evidence did NOT prove any liability on me (the tenant), and the court decided in my favor. It could be hard to reach the court admin on the phone sometimes to ask queations but when i did reach someone they were always helpful and willing to answer any question. The duration from the time I submitted my form (the request to initiate the lawsuit) to the time I received a decision was only about 1-2 months. So much faster than I thought it would be. Words of advice - arrive early, have all your printed evidence organized and ready to share in court, have your thoughts organized (bc you can't read directly from a paper) & be prepared to be there all day because there are other cases to be heard on your court date too. Overall i am so relieved this court exists & that I was able to get my money back from a lying money-hungry incompetent handyman who rented 1/3 of his marital home to a single unsuspecting female just to take financial advantage of her later."
"They check your temp when you go in. But there's masks required and social distancing,"
"More diversity needed at this location!! The Judge seems fair also the nice ladies working in the back office are wonderful. But the Court Officers - one in particular obviously treat individuals different based on RACE"
"I do not practice here often but feel the negative reviews are incorrect. There is a handicap ramp, parking and bathrooms. Court officers are courteous and court personnel are helpful. The current judge is fair and organized. Its the best you could ask for in a small town setting."
"We are the Landlord in Huntington station. we had a Non-payment eviction case.-Tenants name-William Floyd, Nakeshia Folyd, Landlords beware those two unreliable parents. They don't pay rent, also I found out their previous landlord try to get the damage from them too. they left the house without paying their previous landlord. We went to court Feb 4, and Feb 11, 2016. the judge James F. Matthews has very nice personality. He smiles and talk to us like solve some family issues. First time we went to this court, we have been prepared a lots. but when we are in the court room, we don't have to read our paper, we felt relax and just talked to him the truth."
