About the Business
Welcome to Woodland Cemetery, a historic and serene resting place located at 24-32 Highland Avenue, Staten Island, New York. Established in 1854, our cemetery is one of the oldest on Staten Island, nestled at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Highland Avenue. Rich in history and natural beauty, Woodland Cemetery offers a tranquil environment for honoring the memories of loved ones.
Our mission extends beyond providing a peaceful resting place; we are committed to preserving and enhancing the beauty of our grounds. As such, we welcome and appreciate both financial support and the generous spirit of volunteers. We invite community members to join us in various activities such as cleaning plots, planting flowers, weeding gardens, and more. Your help is crucial in maintaining the dignity and serenity of our sacred grounds.
We are in particular need of tree professionals or skilled individuals who can assist in pruning and removing trees, as well as chipping tree branches. Additionally, volunteers are needed to help resurvey gravesites to update our cemetery maps, ensuring accurate records for future generations.
To enhance access to important sections such as the Children's Burial Section, the Common Burial Ground, and the gravesites at the rear of the cemetery, we also seek equipment and helpers.
Join us in preserving the legacy and tranquility of Woodland Cemetery. Your support, whether through volunteer efforts or financial contributions, plays a vital role in maintaining this cherished landmark. Together, let's honor the past and nurture this beautiful space for the future.

"Looks like one of those forgotten cemeteries, but it's well kept for volunteer work. nice quiet if your looking for a final resting place for your family member"
"Peaceful and serene. Watch out for ticks"
"The cemetery is overrun with vegetation, people's graves are inaccessible.. I was at a funeral over the weekend of 8/11/17. The procession was unable to make it to the gravesite due to the roads on premise. All of the elderly members in attendance were unable to pay their final respects as those willing had to trudge through mud. It's sad and quite gross the grounds are in the condition they are in. If anyone has family or friends at this cemetery please do yourselves a favor and look into the condition of their plot and if it can even be found."
