Welcome to Congregation B'nai Jacob
Located at 401 9th Street in the heart of Brooklyn's vibrant Park Slope neighborhood, Congregation B'nai Jacob (CBJ) stands as a beacon of Orthodox Judaism, warmly welcoming both Jews and non-Jews to explore and appreciate the richness of our faith in the modern urban world.
As the only synagogue in the neighborhood offering scheduled daily minyonim, CBJ is proud to provide a spiritual home for those seeking soulful prayer, spirited song, and interactive, thought-provoking Torah discussions. Each service is followed by a delicious Kiddush luncheon, fostering community and connection among attendees.
Join us every Tuesday night for our CHÄV-RU-TÄ Learning Program, where community members gather to engage deeply with Jewish texts and traditions. Our programs are designed to enlighten and inspire, strengthening bonds within our diverse community.
CBJ Park Slope collaborates closely with Chabad of Park Slope, expanding the range of programs, activities, and classes available to our community. For more information on these offerings, visit chabadparkslope.com.
Additionally, CBJ proudly supports the Brownstone Brooklyn Eruv, which encompasses a large section of the Park Slope neighborhood, enhancing the observance of Shabbat for our community.
Stay informed and connected with our complimentary community calendar, featuring both Jewish and secular dates, holiday details, Shabbat and Holiday candle lighting times, and updates on CBJ's programs and events. Available free of charge to all community members, our calendar is a valuable resource for staying engaged with the vibrant life of our congregation.
We invite you to become a part of our community and explore the meaningful experiences Congregation B'nai Jacob has to offer. Whether you are seeking spiritual growth, cultural enrichment, or community connection, you will find a welcoming home here at CBJ.

"Rabbi Hecht met my son over 30 years ago in Methodist Hospital. He has never seen him since and I don't belong to his shul, yet.... whenever he sees me he always asks about my son."
"Congregation Bnai Jacob is one of the most welcoming synagogues I have ever participated in. Rabbi Hecht is a brilliant scholar and welcomes the community wholeheartedly. Rabbi Menashe Wolf is an extremely open and also brilliant scholar who has led many courses of interest in Judaism with tremendous knowledge and good humor. An authentic feeling of warmth and good will permeates this house of worship."
"Very close to Methodist Hospital, Shabbos services start about candle lighting time in winter. Check the hospital Bekur-Cholim Room for details. Rabbi Hecht and congregation very open and welcoming to visitors. Only down side is may not have a minyon when starting Friday night, but will have it by the end. Also have daily services here. Open to visitors at any level of Jewish observance."
"In the past two years, Congregation B’nai Jacob has not shoveled their sidewalk once. The entire block takes responsibility and shovels/salts their portion of the sidewalk directly in front of their building, but not Congregation B’nai Jacob. Maybe their tune will change if one of their members slips and breaks their arm."
"My experience there was pleasant. The congregational members are friendly and outgoing. The rabbi is approachable and always seeks to promote the best interest of the members, as it pertains to their highest good. Rabbi Hecht is well known in the Brooklyn Jewish community and a respectful gentleman. The interior is lovely with a certain antique European feel seamlessly blended in with a dose of architectural modernism. For anyone who lives or is visiting the area and wants to connect with their Jewish roots, this is a good starting point."
