In our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, Jersey City Parks & Forestry is actively involved in managing the spread of the Spotted Lanternfly (SLF), an invasive species that poses a threat to our local flora. The Hudson Regional Health Commission (HRHC) is currently accepting requests from the public to spray for SLF. Our dedicated team is vigilant in monitoring trees for SLF infestations and will perform necessary pruning and removal to ensure public safety. We encourage the community to participate in controlling the SLF population by safely eliminating these pests when encountered. Remember, egg masses can be found on smooth surfaces like tree bark and should be neutralized with alcohol. While circle traps are effective, please avoid sticky traps to prevent harming beneficial insects and wildlife.
