"My experience with the New York State Division of Human Rights (NYS DHR) has been profoundly disappointing and frustrating. I filed a complaint regarding clear child care discrimination by my employer, NYL HR. Despite providing overwhelming evidence that showed I was fired immediately after disclosing my child care issues, NYS DHR conducted a horribly inadequate investigation and concluded with no acknowledgment of the blatant discrimination I faced. Michele from NYL HR explicitly admitted to firing me and only offering to rehire me after I informed them that I had reached out to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This is a clear case of discrimination, yet the investigators at NYS DHR completely overlooked this crucial fact. It's as if they didn't even review the evidence I submitted. New York City laws protect employees from discrimination based on their caregiver status, making it illegal to fire someone due to child care needs. NYL HR's actions were a direct violation of these laws, and it is appalling that the NYS DHR failed to recognize this. The mishandling of my case by the NYS DHR not only undermines their credibility but also perpetuates the discrimination they are supposed to fight against. I strongly suspect bias or undue influence in their investigation process, given the substantial evidence that was ignored. I am left feeling betrayed and helpless, knowing that the very institution meant to protect my rights has failed me so miserably. I would not recommend relying on the NYS DHR to anyone facing discrimination; their incompetence and lack of commitment to justice are truly disheartening."
"Lemme tell ya somethin', this agency is a total fraud. Do not contact this agency for nothin'. Just bite the bullet and get you a good employment lawyer and sue the company that ruined your life, name and reputation. No matter how much evidence you distribute when it comes to reporting workplace abuse/neglect and disability discrimination they just destroy everything you build. They disregard all evidence and side with the working criminals. If I had to guess they'd all vote for Donald Trump! Somebody is paying these people to catch and kill the stories people like us tell. Simply put, this criminal agency needs to be defunded and shut down. End of story!"
"Good luck filing any complaint, tax payer dollars down the drain. Everything these agencies should stand for they are the opposite. I couldnt agree more with all the other reviews, this many people cant be wrong and arent wrong by giving negative reviews, filing a complaint is pointless, they need to shut these places down. Waisted so much time for nothing these agencies prove theres no justice period."
"Don't waste your time making a complaint! Just sue whomever you need to sue in Federal Court. This agency has no power and its staff work from home a lot and do not care about your complaint. The investigator for my complaints, Kriston Kirton, works from home a lot and was indifferent and hostile to me. Call Karen Thomas, the secretary at the Bronx office. At least, she will give you resources and even advice."
"The Division of Human Rights is so crooked. They definitely do Quid Pro Quo for the agency's they investigate. They do the least in an investigation, and then make a decision always for the agency when you have proof and disregard any evidence you send in. It is disgusting, and DHR needs to be investigated because I am sure this happens to people all the time."
