"SISTERS PLEASE READ A’oodhu Billahi, this mosque does not accept women. I am new to the neighborhood and went to Jummah today hoping to find a new community where I could grow in my faith. First, the Imam refused to return my salams, and shooed me away upstairs. Later, another brother interupted my salah so I would move and he could turn on a fan. Yet another brother then came upstairs where the Imam had told me to go and just kept shouting "back room! Back room!" until I shuffled into a tiny room where I had to lean out the window to hear the khutbah and even then could only hear every few words over the sound of cars and trucks outside. Of course, I was the only woman in the entire masjid. When a bunch of teen boys tried to come into the little closet I was put in I got up enough nerve to tell them to please pray in the other three, much larger rooms, dedicated to men. They seemed confused that there would even be a space for women at the masjid, A’oodhu Billahi. Finally after the jummah salah, one boy threw a dirty tissue at me. I left crying. I am shocked that my fellow Muslims would treat me this way. If they want to keep women from the mosque--against the Prophet's (Peace and blessings be upon him) well documented example--I wish they would have told me that straight away instead of trying to humiliate me into leaving. I hope, inshallah, writing this review will save other sisters from having the same experience as I did and open these brothers' eyes so that they may improve their ways."
"I attended taraweeh here a few nights in Ramadan, I felt very at home in this masjid. The Imam was also very engaging especially with the youth. MashaAllah"
