"The moment we got there it was a long wait. We sat about 30-40mins waiting. Only to be called by the officiant who didn’t speak Spanish, as we requested for one !! While in the room he only told us to face each other and only answer the two questions each person was asked etc… told us to kiss and then leave !! I was told it would be 15-20 mins ceremony it only took us 1 min??? We felt so rushed i dont even feel like im actually married. Other people who were called took at least 5 -10 mins in the room! Why were we rushed???"
"Absolute joke of a place, minute you walk in is with such an attitude and rude. This place once meant something to the city and those who worked there because you’re apart of someone’s important day, dude at the window didn’t have a once of decency. Why work at a place like this if you just don’t want to deal with people about to get married, and bring negative energy to the occasion."
"Have dealt with my fair share of govt agencies. NY is a traffic nightmare, I was not on time for my appointment, but got in anyways. And I only waited at most 10 minutes once I got in. Unlike a dmv or other govt services, it doesn’t have that depressive feel to the building. Many people are indeed trying to get married here. Once you get in, you are given a service number. And then a clerk will process your request right there and then. I had no problems and was in and out."
"Great and seamless experience from start to finish. Needed a new marriage license from 1960 and what I thought was a needle in a haystack was recovered and sent to me. Anyone I encountered was able to direct me to the correct forms and process."
"Incredibly rude. I have emailed and called numerous times since 2020 to see what I need to obtain my mother’s marriage certificate (she lives abroad and needs it for immigration purposes) and every time I called, NO ONE was able to tell me what I needed. Every time I’d call, they would say “I don’t know”, “Just look at the website” or “just email them”. I have emailed and NO ONE has responded. I sent the form to request the marriage certificate along with documentation through mail with proof as to why I need it along with documentation that proves that I’m the daughter (since no one was able to tell me EXACTLY what I needed) and my request got rejected. I went in person with all documentation that proves why I need the marriage certificate for my mother and they didn’t even bother to listen to me. They kept interrupting me and didn’t even look at the documents that I had with me as proof. They just kept handing me the same paper over and over again and were clearly in a rush to get me out of there. They were very unprofessional, unresponsive and utterly unhelpful with no willingness to help me solve this issue. I understand that I need something written from my mother authorizing me to get the marriage certificate but WHY WAS NO ONE ABLE TO TELL ME THAT BEFORE OVER THE PHONE? I have been calling and asking for information for over SIX MONTHS! I am dealing with a time sensitive immigration process with my mother and they were unable to work something out with me. The pictures below show that they handed me the same exact document three times and didn’t even realize it because they were in such a rush to get me out of there. The other picture is to show that they didn’t even want to listen to what I had to say and just handed me the form to request the marriage certificate although I already had that filled out."
