About the Business
Welcome to the City of Jersey City - Division of Fire
Located at 465 Marin Boulevard, Jersey City, New Jersey, the Division of Fire stands as a cornerstone of safety and service for our community. With a proud history dating back to September 21, 1829, our department evolved from a volunteer organization into a professional career department in 1871, uniting the Jersey City Fire Department with the Hudson City and City of Bergen volunteer departments.
Today, our Division of Fire is the largest municipal fire department in New Jersey, comprising over 650 dedicated uniformed members and 50 civilian employees. This robust team is committed to protecting and serving the residents of Jersey City. Last year alone, we responded to over 13,000 calls for service, demonstrating our unwavering dedication to public safety.
Our administration is deeply committed to enhancing fire safety through increased resources and personnel. We have expanded our operations to include an average of 26 companies on duty daily, the highest number since 2000. This expansion ensures that Jersey City is better prepared than ever to handle emergencies and protect its residents.
Our fleet includes 28 pieces of frontline fire apparatus, featuring pumper trucks, ladder trucks, rescue trucks, a hazardous materials unit (HAZMAT), and a mask service unit (MSU). All firefighters receive first responder training, and our vehicles are equipped with automatic defibrillators to provide immediate care when needed.

"Great Fire Fighters of Jersey City. I just had a problem with smoke and sparking from an outlet on Danforth Ave and the response was very quick and the fire fighters were so diligent and really the best team of workers. They deserve recognition and respect for their professionalism. I think it was Engine 35 and 8 (hopefully I got the correct responders) but Wow I was very impressed that Jersey City has top notch dedicated firefighters. My congrads to the City of Jersey City for having the BEST of the Best."
"I wonder why this fire station is not open these days. I visited this place with my grandson to show him the place on 25th and 26th july. But it was shut on both days."
"I like the Jersey city fire departments"
