"Not being able to cash a Webster Bank business check written to me by a Webster Bank iota business account holder at their own Webster Bank branch is ludicrous. The branch manager said no, & she said it didn't matter who I called from customer service it would still be a no. I called webster bank customer service before I visited & they said I could go in and cash it. The lack of consistency shows exactly why they are rated 2 stars"
"A few weeks ago my husband posted a critical review of Webster Bank at several of its branches, including the branch on Avenue M in Brooklyn, which until recently held my family's trust account, and including the main branch in Stamford, CT. From our direct experiences with the Avenue M branch, we know that the main branch sets policy for the branches and that the branches adhere to those policies; this was the reason he posted his review on several branches, as a caution to its present and prospective customers. Webster Bank persuaded Google to delete all of these critical reviews. There are two conceivable bases for these deletions. One is that I was the sole trustee of my family's trust account; although I duly authorized my husband to assist me to retrieve the money in my family's account, he was not a named account holder. The other conceivable basis is that our direct interactions were with the Avenue M branch only. Accordingly, I am posting the instant review at two branches only, the Avenue M one and the main one. Webster Bank is the most incompetent and heartless bank I have ever encountered. Every Bank employee at the Bank's Avenue M location in Brooklyn, NY with whom my I interacted, with the exception of a clerk named Donte, was clueless. This cluelessness was apparently also true of the Bank's attorneys. I was never permitted to communicate directly with these lawyers, even as branch employees deferred all decision-making to these nameless and inscrutable mandarins. I was the sole trustee of my family's living trust. I made available to the Bank a set of three successive trust agreements that proved this sole trusteeship to be an unequivocal fact. Despite this fact, the Bank kept insisting that my sister was a co-trustee and therefore must sign before a notary several Bank-generated documents before the Bank would release to me the money in my family's trust account. These Bank documents were prima facie defective since they referenced only the first trust agreement, even though that agreement had been superseded by the second agreement and effectively annulled by the third. In addition, Webster Bank provided zero guidance as to how to complete their forms. When we submitted the notarized forms to the Bank, the Bank rejected them as having been improperly completed but without telling us in what way. We reiterated to several Bank representatives that my sister was seriously ill and that the Bank was cruel to demand her participation, given the fact that my sister was NOT a co-trustee and so was not authorized to co-manage the trust account. The Bank then demanded a different set of documents from us. It was only when we produced a letter from my sister's treating physician that the Bank relented and released the money, which I immediately divided among the members of my family, including my sister. The Bank had been paying an incredibly low interest rate of close to zero percent while it profited from its use of the money it had kept refusing to release; this fact alone could explain the games that the Bank played, not just with the money but with the welfare of my sister."
"One of the bankers named Olga Ostrovsky does not have the qualities necessary to interact with people. She is cold, mean and does not provide a fair resolution to customers problems. I no longer bank with Webster Bank because of my interaction with her."
"This morning while in the Bank on 18th Avenue, I had an encounter with the woman who said she was there to open the bank. While my friend was using the atm she walked in and was watching us and asked if we were together, why ask me that it was none of her business I did not answer. Mine you I don’t know she works there and was there to open the bank. Now she felt like we were taking to long and tell us to leave and come. back later who are you to tell me to leave cause you feel like I’m taking to long to do my transactions. VERY DISRESPECTFUL Is this how y’all treat your customers She needs to be addressed for her conduct"
"Sandra Guzman is a very nice and attentive Webster Bank Director Financial Center representative. Sandra assisted me with managing my stock portfolio account. The process took quite a few steps and Sandra helped me at my pace. Sandra Guzman has also been very helpful with my banking including making strong referrals to address assistance I needed on the spot. Always there to say a friendly hello and wish a good day."
