FDNY Engine 40/Ladder 35 131 Amsterdam Avenue, Manhattan, New York 10023

"I'm a licensed NYS rehabilitator and sadly FDNY couldn't help me with a bird stuck in the netting. I went there late night in person from Queens to request for help. They were only 2 blocks from the place where the bird was trapped. While I understand they need to be available for human emergencies, I still wish FDNY could get along with DEC as a team to help NYC wildlife with such rescues, as they are the only only one who seem to have the right equipment. DEC dispatchers were also sad that FDNY couldn't help as they didn't have the equipment for the height the bird was stuck at. At last the following day, Three of us rescuers climbed the roof with the Super's and the Tenants permission and after 2hours of trying with sticks and scissors, we were able to let the bird free. FDNY could have rescued like a piece of cake instead."

They put their lives on the line daily to help people, and put themselves at risk in the process. They have committed their lives to helping people, which is much more than most will ever do! They didn’t have to come out and help us, but THEY DID ANYWAYS! These great New Yorkers were the only ones who gave us a care (Officer Cohen was also kind).
