"I’ve been a member for almost twenty years. I love the traditional service and beautiful music. The congregation is like a family."
"I started attending Immanuel three years ago. Immanuel is a Church with a traditional, scripture-based liturgy. It is a rock within a constantly-changing city; it was established in 1863 and it has been in its current location since 1886. Something here keeps people coming back. Many members who move elsewhere in the city or the country make an effort to attend services despite the travel distance. This could be attributed to many things. The Church isn’t subject to the whims of the times; it offers a timeless message and classic services that may feel outdated at first, but soon feel familiar and comforting. The music is unparalleled, supporting and elevating the services. Beyond services, the members are friendly, passionate, and knowledgeable about their faith. Anyone who starts coming to Immanuel will soon come to recognize familiar faces, and feel like they’ve found a quiet home within the busy city."
"I was baptized, confirmed, and married at Emanuel Lutheran Church all my years growing up in Emmanuel I've had the pleasure to learn and grow from Pastor Schulze and Pastor Schmiggie Soo many youth activities and the fondest memories as a child that still make me smile, I also had the pleasure of Pastor Fryer marring me and baptizing my son as well , until unfortunately after 9/11/2001 we moved to upstate NY . But myself as well as my mother, sister's, aunt ,4 cousins all did the above as well, My family's original name was Dinkel , but Pastor Fryer would know me as Mrs.Tahrmee Bessey-Movroydis , So happy I came along this website, Thank You Emmanuel for all that I've learned and the safety I felt growing up in the 70's-80's in NYC, Sincerely, Mrs.Tahrmee Bessey"
"AMAZING MUSIC! Very welcoming to persons of all backgrounds and lifestyles. Wonderful sermons. Pastor is extremely kind and insightful."
"Be very careful! This is not a mainstream ELCA congregation. This congregation is affiliated with the NALC (a denomination started to oppose gay marriage and ordination) and is very homophobic."
