Reviews of Sawmill Creek Trail & Transco Trail
"Love the lyndhurst side of this trail but over by the powerlines, on the na side. I was bit on my forearm by a tan pit bull. The pup was innocent and I could see by his face he was just giving a love bite but the owner of Asian decent (this is not a racial slur I love all humans, rather to just be informed of the woman for identifying her neglegence) did not keep dog on a firm grip nor did she even see if I was OK. I spoke to a man that was right behind and after telling me how to clean it properly and me informing him to watch out for his dog because it wasn't the dogs fault he told me she took the bag of dog poop and left it right on the trail when there are garbage cans everywhere with a little distance. We are a community and if you can't properly train or love your dog you shouldn't be walking him where family's and people go to find their self therapy. Pits are burst of love and energy and need discipline they beg for it and when you love them properly they are the most innocent affectionate dogs that would sacrifice anything to protect you. ♥️"
"There is a great park here for children of all ages! I didnt even know about it until i came here for a walk and seen it which was even better as i had two children with me. Since finding it two-three weeks ago i have been here most days even though its a 30 minute drive for me"
"They try really hard to fix and maintain the trail, but it is constantly wearing down. There are many more people than there used to be, and it has gotten noisier, crowded, and less pleasant. I suppose since they redid the upper trail, more people come to walk it, but I wish they wouldn't be so loud or throw their garbage everywhere. It chases all the wildlife away, and that was my favorite thing about this trail, all the birds and small animals."
"Sawmill Creek and Transco Trails are a pair of nature trails located at the southern end of Richard DeKorte Park. These twin trails provide marvelous views of opposite sides of Kingsland Creek, an inlet of the Hackensack River and the wildlife within. They were built on drained land from Kingsland Creek, and while several feet above water level, the trails at extremely high tide, can be impassable. During my most recent visit here, I had an opportunity to get pictures of a few herons, egrets, and mallard ducks."
"A fantastic little dare I say hidden gem in the meadowlands area. I recently discovered this and now I’m there at least once a week, taking a walk or riding my bike. Great place for bird watching and photography too! I could do without the smell but hey you’re in the meadowlands! It’s nice to know that there’s a place like this in the middle of the burbs and really odd to see the New York City skyline while waking the trails. Kinda cool actually!"
