"This place is a celebration of ships. My favorite room was the collection Mariners' navigation tools."
"No postcards, but good pamphlets and great exhibits. Important mission, cool house!"
"Hey quick question, so I bought a very unique looking metal stamp for letters or documents, it's a metal plaque that says " U.S. Merchant Marine Peace and War United States 3c" in and it's on a piece of marmol and on the side it says "american merchant marine museum kings point new york" so thats why googled it and found this....is it worth anything? if so who can I contact to sell it?"
"Just wow! The museum is located on the grounds of the US Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. The building is a beautiful converted older home. It isn’t the Smithsonian, for sure, but it probably doesn’t enjoy that kind of funding either. We enjoyed seeing the ship models and learning more about how important the Merchant Marine is in both peacetime and war. I really had no idea before visiting the museum how weapons, tanks, and such are transported overseas. I also learned about the midshipmen (students) from the Academy who lost their lives during WW II, and that they were the only students from any federal service academy to serve during that war. Highly recommend."
