"Just straight up gross. Trash literally everywhere. Dust on 90% of the books I picked up. One book had a literal spider inside of it. There are not enough words to explain how dirty this place is. Just stay away."
"If I could give half a star only I would. If you are planning to buy the "You" books there because they filmed the series in this bookstore, don't. I walked in with my family full of excitement because "You" is one of my favorite shows. I walk around and the place is filled with empty DD cups, Big Gulps and all sorts of trash hanging around, there was a cat, which was pretty cute, but the fact that he was laying in the entrance which is already pretty hard to get through wasn't helping, no hate towards the cat though. I look around and don't see the "You" books anywhere, I then go to the employee (or owner?, who knows) with a picture of the first volume on my phone and ask if they have this book. The man tells me coldly "No." with a hand gesture as if he is annoyed to get asked this question, I proceed to ask "Do you get that alot?" in a joking sense because I did understand that he could be annoyed to always be asked the same question (I work in a bookstore too, and that happens alot). He then starts basically lecturing me about how he finds it ridiculous that woman are interested in the series in any way, shape or form "I find it pathetic that woman are attracted to this series, isn't it about a man who abducts women and takes advantage of them to end up killing them" (might not be the actual words, but it meant the same). I then look at him shocked that someone who works in the same place the series was filmed would go and say such things about what could be their bestselling book, whatever the subject of it is. I answer "I guess so" and turn to my family who are surprised about the reaction of the man but since they don't understand English much they didn't understand all of what he said, they then understand that he basically just insulted me and we leave. I was so looking forward to buying THE book of THE series in THE bookstore and end up leaving on the verge of tears, having spent one of the worst moment of my vacation in the time of 5 minutes. So, again, don't go there if you're hoping to buy the books because they don't have it and most definitely don't plan on having it. And if it can help anyone, the man who was working was an old guy, with (or it seemed so) missing teeth."
"THEY HAVE A CAT! Charming little bookstore and I love their book selection, but like 25% of the US population, I’m allergic to cats. Can’t buy books here if I can’t breathe & it puts a bad taste in my mouth that 1 out of every 4 Americans isn’t welcome to shop here. 5 stars for the store itself, 1 star for the asthma attack."
"I think I have been visiting here for 33 years and I still found my wife a new Madeleine L'Engle book when we were in here recently. There is an eclectic but great collection of books across a range of genres. Many of the books you will not find in other stores in the city, so this also makes it more unique. Visit this place just to say hi to the cats if nothing else."
