"Read for directions to get there and look at my pics. So you actually access this from Pelham on Boston post road right next to the hutch. There is a street called Eastchester Place. Take that down to the end where it bends there is a house numbered 3480. Park across the street from it and you will see the overpass for the hutch with a sign in front. We actually used to hang out under this bridge as kids and drink etc. And I had no idea there was a trail but if you walk in go under the bridge and keep walking straight there is a path directly after on the left and it will bring you directly to the rock when the trail ends. Plaque is missing and there is litter all over but that is how you access it."
"Split Rock is worth the visit, just make sure you look up its history beforehand. A lot of reviewers are saying that it’s difficult to reach Split Rock but there is an easy path. I found the path from a guy off YouTube. It’s safe and the walk takes about 15 minutes generally. I left a picture of where the trail begins. You walk under the overpass and make a left. Stay on the trail as it leads you straight to Split Rock. R.I.P. Anne Hutchinson, her children, and her people."
"Visit this glacial boulder that sits near a salt water marsh on the Thomas Pell Wildlife Sanctuary. Learn the areas local folklore and about the well-known Hutchinson family. It is a must-see if you are in the Bronx. This forest houses a variety of wildlife and plant life despite the proximity to the city. The trail to Split Rock is covered in yellow thistle and holy grass which is rare in the area. We spotted a red tailed hawk on our visit. * Day trip tip: pack some sort of tick repellent"
"If the Split Rock could talk you would be amazed at the stories it would tell. Look up it's history. It takes alot to visit the site which it's on. You can't just pull your car into a parking lot and walk up to it. For whatever reason, NYS Highway Engineers decided to isolate the rock. It is surrounded by three high traffic/high speed roads that form a triangle around it. Northbound Interstate 95 Westbound Hutchinson River Pkwy. and, the off ramp that allows commuters to exit the Hutchinson River Pkwy to connect with I95 North."
"I love history, especially knowing Anne Hutchinson was perhaps massacred here in 1643, but trying to safely access this rock is almost impossible. Thus the one star. It is surrounded by major highways and railings.. I am thankful that the Bronx historian succeeded in saving it from demolition in the 1960's. I have tried to view it while riding in the car but it is hidden among trees. If you can figure out how to safely hike to it, please take photos and post. If you have a compass with you, in what direction runs the split?"
