Reviews
"Pleasant little library. Lower floor is a nicely sized children’s room, complete with some table games. Upper floor has a few computers, a small lounge section, a few 4-chair tables, a Spanish books section, periodicals and DVDs. Book selection small but interesting, probably 50/50 fiction and nonfiction. Excellent natural lighting on second floor, many windows. Free Wi-Fi. Very nice, and good on West Harrison."
"This library has a lack of concern for adults with special needs/disabilities. This population does not have equal access to resources and opportunities in the library. The libraries policies and director do not recognize, value, and embrace diversity. A public library should accommodate the needs of every user, while practicing equity and inclusion."
"Very callous behavior to a young adult male with autism . Very sad and disheartening that this is the way he was treated . Definitely not a good look for the library ."
"Shame on you West Harrison library for what you are doing to Matt. All he wants to do is read books. He has special needs and it makes him happy. It's disgusting what you are doing"
"The director of this library engages in ableism. She was recently incredibly prejudice against a gentleman with special needs, who functions at a lower age level. Despite her library profile containing the quotes “will be treated with dignity and respect” and “you will feel welcome at the west Harrison public library.” She in fact did not display any of the behaviors she claims to use as the director of the library. She instead discriminated against an individual with disabilities and embarrassed him and his care take by kicking him out of the section of the library that he loves most and most identifies with.”"
