"It's a deep subway station always have a lot of homeless people, even though the cops try to keep them out of the station"
"The New York subway system is bloody amazing! Super impressed how frequently the trains run and how easy it is to travel all over this beautiful city. People in every borough I went to were super nice about helping me find my way around. Also, I felt very safe and comfortable using the transit system here, no matter the time of day or the area I was in. The underground/city layout is very impressive: the architecture, mosaics, stained glass, and other art (yes, that includes graffiti) is friggin awesome! BTW: Huge shout out to NYC for having actual humans drive/operate the trains! What a welcoming sight that was to see."
"This is my daughter's station, takes it every day to work in Soho and back to the Heights. I don't love that everyone has to take an elevator to get in or out of the station. Doesn't feel the safest, and per my kid it is crowded and uncomfortable during rush hour. I feel like the city should do better in it's working class neighborhoods, these are the folks that make New York tick. But otherwise, it has a very cool, old NYC type of feel to it."
"Easy access at w181st st subway station, check Escalator Outages, 16stairsteps Γ5 flights+ 8 stairsteps Γ1flight ascend or descend, although available service, not senior-friendly,not for physically challenged nor cardiac-impaired, suggest emergency equipment accessibility, NYPD to advise those smoking weed inside A train. Just because it's legal doesn't mean smokers weed or other forms, should be allowed inside the IRT subways. Periodic Re-education is compelled."
"Closest subway stop to Yeshiva University's Max Stern Center, which hosts the schools D3 basketball games. I haven't had an issue with the elevators. There are narrow stairways to the platform from the elevator-level platform. There are also stairs to climb once you leave the elevators and exit the turnstiles to get to the street. Many times I used to go to 191st street and exit the train from there as there are fewer total steps. They just started work on the elevators at 191st, so 181 requires fewer steps as of Feb 2020."
