Welcome to Spook Rock, a place steeped in local legend and mystery, located at 280 Spook Rock Road, Suffern, New York. Named after the intriguing rock formation believed to have been created by the Lenape Tribes, Spook Rock is enveloped in tales of the supernatural and the unexplained.

The legends surrounding Spook Rock are as captivating as they are eerie. One story speaks of a forbidden love between a Dutch woman and her Indian lover, tragically ended by a violent act of intolerance. It is said that their shadows can be seen in the moonlight, and their cries echo through the woods. Another chilling tale tells of an Indian who, in a tragic misunderstanding, kidnapped and murdered the daughter of a Dutch settler. Her restless spirit is rumored to wander the area to this day.

In addition to its ghostly lore, Spook Rock Road is famous for its "gravity hill" phenomenon. Near the end of Spook Rock Road, as it approaches Route 202, there is a slight downhill slope where cars, when placed in neutral, seemingly defy gravity by rolling backward uphill. Many have witnessed this strange occurrence, sparking curiosity and debate about its cause. While some attribute it to a gravitational anomaly, others dismiss it as an optical illusion.
