"A little before 9:22PM last night (Aug 20, 2024) I was kicked out of the gym by one of the workers. For lack of a better description there where two dark skinned people working the floor. A taller fit guy and a shorter regular build guy. The short one walked up to me and asked, "You need to switch to a pair of shoes." I said "Oh ok." he said, "Do you have another pair of shoes to ware?" I said "No this is all I have." He said "Then you must leave the premises immediately." I left with no argument but I'll say here and now that was more then a little rude when talking to a customer and I'm a little embarrassed. I am currently in a shelter so wearing sneakers 24/7 is a little tough on the feet. I've even told them this in the past. That's why me and just about everyone in the shelter use slippers because sneakers/feet are impossible to keep clean under those conditions. Now that was ONE problem. Here is the second. During this time a female was lifting weights in front of me to the left. Guess what? She took off her shoes. A guy working one of the leg machines on my right side took of his shoes while doing his work out. This all took place within 10 min of our interaction and all in eyeshot from where I was sitting. In short, it's pretty common. So why was I singled out. Also when you have your personal trainers in the place they also allow the clients to work out shoeless in socks. I've seen that on several occasions. Next when your giving tours to possible future customers they walk in with flip flops, Crocs, sandals you name it and they are not asked to leave. So as far as I can tell as long as the customer is about to give you added business "safety" can be ignored. I've waited till the next day to see if I'm still angry and I am. So this will be sent out today."
"I will really miss the Noho Blink. I've been loyal to this Blink location since 2020. It's not perfect, but, for the price and the location, it was amazing. The Life Fitness equipment was great but old. Alas, all of it was recently replaced with awful Matrix machines. They are absolutely horrible, jerky, poorly designed, inaccurate, and just so ugly. They have managed to jam in a lot of new machines, but they are truly a disappointment. It was so fun to run into local legends like Amanda Lepore and other art queers there. I made a lot of awesome gym friends there. But it's ultimately about my working out and I just had to cancel my membership after years of being a loyal Blink member for more than a decade. I'm off to Crunch Bowery where they maintain ties with Life Fitness equipment, which is far smoother and less jerky and painful than Matrix. At the end of the day, this is a personal preference, but the Matrix equipment is just awful. I'm so sorry. From the weight/cable machines to the elliptical machine -- I left my workout feeling awful yesterday. I wish there would have been some customer feedback included in this decision. It's clear they needed newer equipment and they went for the cheapest option. This is a sad farewell."
"i have come here since covid - a basic gym with the machines i use at a very good price. but now is MUCH better - same type of machines but totally upgraded to latest generation. all excellent. and very friendly staff!"
"*5/30/24: someone please tell the employee to stop eating breakfast in the locker room. It’s weird and gross. *5/9/24: 6AM, you have a staff room, right? There is an employee who routinely hangs out in the locker room eating breakfast and watching videos on his phone. You have probably the smallest locker room in the city. What is wrong with this guy? Tell him to use the lounge instead of further crowding the space. *11/27: 6:30AM, toilet paper in only one stall, soap in only one shower, staff scrolling phones at front desk. Get it together. *5/16: You are raising the price of towel service to $15 a month, yet right now there are no towels available. I’m paying 50% more for a service that is unavailable. You suck. *3/21/23: 5:45 and the music still isn’t on. *3/15/23: Oops! Someone overslept this morning! 5:15 and doors still locked, lights off, members waiting in the cold. Be better. *Update 1/17: the towel situation seems to have improved. These days the music is being turned on very late, though. Sometimes not til after 6Am. You need to keep towels in stock. If members are paying extra for this service, then you should never run out. No excuses. I’m reading a lot of negative reviews about Blink billing policy and not about this actual location. This Blink is spacious and well-organized. Staff are very friendly, and speak to you not just at check-in, but also while you’re on the floor. Someone is always cleaning here. This Blink is completely above ground, which I consider an asset. Also, they have a water bottle filler. In the locker room, the toilets aren’t directly across from the sinks, and that offers a little more privacy."
"Just tried to renew my membership at this location the gym manager robbed me for my money for payment she told me that it didn’t go through on her end yet I saw when I swipe my card it said approved went to the bank. They told me that the money went through and it’s pending. All accounts are pending. The money went through. She did not give me my membership or refund. She’s trying to rob me and I’m letting everybody know. Be careful when you renew your membership because these people are thieves trying to rob people of the hard earned money and not give them a membership or refund. She will not get away with it and corporate needs to know about also highly unprofessional call me Sweetheart when I questioned her about this that is unprofessional behavior yes"
