"It's a beautiful little monastery, tucked away in Brooklyn. It's a Gem of tranquility and spirituality. The Sisters are cloistered, and live a contemplative life devoted to prayer. The mass there is beautiful. I would encourage anyone interested in learning more about Carmelite spirituality to pay the monastery a visit."
"Nice place, i little small can fit around 70 ppls and the parking is small too maybe 25 cars can fit one behind the other... so if are coming here for a mass or any event get here early so you can park and take a seat, because they will run out"
"Sunday, December 15, 2019 Monastery of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Joseph Chapel I am listening to the nuns recite the holy office of the hour. The nuns chant in a room to the side of the chapel, screened from my view. The silence that has endured for a few minutes suggests that the chanting of noon day has completed for the session. And then, the murmuring from this room set apart from the chapel has begun again. Curtains have been drawn after the lights have fallen. The only light in the room comes from a few candles and from stained glass windows of biblical scenes. I am immediately drowsy. I allow little images, characters, to traipse through my brain. The presence of incense only increases my meditative state. I am certain the nuns will return to chant Vespers, the nightly goodbye to God. I have this idea of ending up by the sea before the sun gives out. I could take a bus to its shore."
