"They brush a lot of crap under the rug that really should be addressed. Nurses are expected to do a disgusting amount of charting even when they don’t have time, they’re threatened with write ups and disciplinary action even if it’s work they can’t legally complete. Everything in the CNA charting is not accurate, presumably to bill the patients higher even though their levels of independence improve, they’re still listed as hoyers, ect. The food is always horrible. The staff are subjected to unsafe working conditions constantly, and managements angle is how to chart things in such a way so the company faces no backlash. Oh and morning reports where they should be discussing how to improve the company is spent gossiping about everyone they don’t like ."
"Wonderful staff. The nurses, doctors, finance department, and social services work so well with each other and the patient to keep the patient safe and do what is needed for the best of the patient. Can’t say enough about everyone there. Nurses return phone calls and never complain no matter what you ask of them. Finance very helpful with billing questions and the filling out of forms"
"Food is a low budget, unhealthy and imbalanced menu despite claims on their website. How can tuna noodle casserole with a side of corn be balanced? ALL CARBS.Nothing green on the plate. Pulverized canned fruit salad. I asked a nurse if I could switch to a Diabetic diet and was told it is all the same slop made in one pot for everyone. No beverage choices--I don't want room temp coffee at night. I can not wait to get out of here, meanwhile will have family bring me some fresh fruit to survive my rehab. Feel sorry for the nice and hardworking staff."
"September 20, 2023 To: Georgia Wilse, Business Manager To: Noam Stein, Financial Coordinator Cooperstown Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing To: Yehuda Alpert, Esq. There is no reason why I should be responsible for the $2,800 you say I owe you. Georgia, you indicated that Medicaid sent me a form that needed to be returned within 3 months of leaving the rehab. You told me they sent it the last week in May. I left rehab two and one half months before that. Perhaps you should have made sure I received it and returned it within the 2 weeks I was given to return it. If you are so eager for your money why didn’t you contact me in February, March, April, May, June, July or August? You had a lawyer contact me with a threatening letter and then you yourself contacted me with the very first bill I have ever received. Both letters arrived this month, September 2023. Up until now I was not aware that I owed you any money. Those were in the form of certified mail requiring a signature. I was in the rehab in February 2023. Better yet, you should have had me fill out the form while I was still in rehab. There were so many forms I filled out while I was there. You told me that Medicare contacted me several times. That is a lie. Diane at Community Medicaid said they do not do that! Georgia, you never contacted me once. Not once! The only income I have is my individual Medicare payment. Between taxes, insurance and the average oil bill of over $600.00 a month in the winter I cannot afford to pay you anything. You screwed up! Although I shouldn’t have to or can’t afford to pay you anything, I will pay you $5.00 a month in good faith. Sincerely, Karen Schell PS. Your rehab is horrible. At one point a new manager took over and immediately stopped all narcotic medication across the board without even entering the building. This left the nurses to deal with the side effects and complaints. This was extremely dangerous and could have had deadly circumstances. I was suffering from withdrawal along with dealing with a woman to the left of me swearing at the top of her lungs all night long. The woman on the right of me had Family Feud on 24/7. It was so loud I could play along. And the alarms were constantly not being answered. One aide would hangout in the recreation area talking on the phone to his girlfriend throughout a double shift. The other aides were nowhere to be found. I would get in my wheelchair and check to see if I could help the other patients. I wasn’t able to help in most cases. But at least they felt that they were not completely being ignored. I don’t know if the water was locked up but I was not allowed to get some myself. There was never a pitcher of water for anyone and I would have to ask several times and would get half a little plastic cup of water. I would look forward to getting medication so I could have water to drink. The food was disgusting and inedible. Example: a purple square piece of salmon, 1/8” thick and hard as a rock. I really feel sorry for the residents that have to eat it every day. If you didn’t finish your dinner by the time the aides stop delivering them then you were stuck looking at it all night long. I was one of the only patients that wanted my door closed. However, it didn’t stop anyone from barging in unannounced. I never thought I would need to teach respectability to the employees. The nurses, physical therapists and the social worker were outstanding. I will publish this in reviews of your business with hopes that someone else may be spared this experience."
"Spoke with administrator today; after having a nightmare of a time getting them to answer the phone, or process a message about my mother's care correctly, I finally had to google information as to who to contact to get someone's attention, even that was incorrect... I am 1300 miles away and about to drive there and remove my mother from that facility. After spending several weeks in ICU at Albany Medical, she is extremly weak and needs assistance with most things . The staff is rude and unprofessional at best. With a few exceptions. No on call doctor, only doctor to do admissions and discharge..PA following primary care, and no consult when change in status is indicated. Mother states that she is in pain, and can't receive medication as requested. Can't use her phone and can't get assitance when needed. Very concerned as her condition has deteriorated in the last week of her being there. I will be following up and removing her if necessary, if care doesn't improve. Do your research before placing your loved ones. Even her HCP can't get through. Very disappointed, now extremly concerned."
