Reviews of Full Plate Eatery
"Had reservations about eating here as not a fan of buffets, but received a Monday night free offer through Seneca Casino (highly recommend signing up for a Players Card to earn rewards). Arrived at 6:15 pm and waited approximately an hour in line (NOTE: Be sure you’re in the correct line as there’s a separate entrance for Elite Status members). We were later advised to arrive promptly at 4 pm when buffet opens as it’s a very popular dining destination, especially with the bus tours. Once seated, our friendly server was quick to get our non alcoholic beverages (included in the cost), provided refills and cleaned the table regularly. There’s a number of stations, including pizza, salad, Mediterranean, Asian, American and dessert. Carving station had a ham, there was sirloin steak, fried chicken, wings and tenders. All you can eat crab legs were available for an additional cost. As we don’t eat seafood, cannot speak to the fish options. The only meat we had was the sirloin in mushroom sauce (fair) and chicken Parmesan (okay). Enjoyed the salad bar and the Asian station. The creamed spinach tasted like spinach dip, was very good. Pizza was hugely popular as slices were taken as soon as they were removed from the wood ovens behind the counter. ((Underwhelming to us as we prefer it cooked longer). Staff worked hard to keep the stations filled and clean. Desserts were typical, but with delicious gelato, and the soft serve station included regular and waffle cones). If you are a fan of quantity, and have a good appetite, this is the place to go as there’s a lot of food and many choices."
"I see there are a lot of bad reviews. I went with a large group and I thought everything was great. The servers were always there to take away empty plates and fill cups. The food selection was large and the things I tasted were all pretty good. I didn't want to go up multiple times so I fit everything I wanted to sample on one plate. I would go here again."
"We are two families with 4 adult and 4 kids (8,6,5 and 2 years old), and we were charged $181.96 for the dinner. 5 minutes after we paid at cashier, there came a tall, thin and elder guy who said he was the manager come to us, tell us by their “policy”, any group over 7 people, they must charge a mandatory 20% Tips in advance before we can have our dinner. Thus, we had to go back to cashier and paid another $35 for their tips. Most food was cold, looked not fresh and tasted below average. The service almost equal to none, just one refill of drinks after we asked for several times. The waitress stood at their service station which was only 3 feet away, watching us eating with an expressionless unhappy face, which makes our dinner experience very uncomfortable. If there is a policy to charge mandatory service tips in advance, why don’t they let us know and pay in the first place? Furthermore, the subtotal is $174.96. What is the additional Transaction Fee of $7 charged for since we paid in cash? If you really really want to try this buffet and have a group over 7 people, just break into 2 or more groups to avoid their “in advance 20% Tip charge policy”. Or, with this money and tips, sure you have many better dinner choices in the area."
"We almost didn’t come because of some negative reviews. But I saw that there were relatively few reviews of this new restaurant, so I wanted to give it an honest try and see what people were saying. Wanted to try a very broad sample of all the cuisines on offer to give a fair review. We came on a Monday evening, and it was decently busy. All the food was full, and it looked mostly fresh. Some of the food was not to my taste, but almost all of it was prepared well and with quality. Of note, we really enjoyed the roast beef, mashed potatoes, kielbasa, fried shrimp, green beans, roast turkey, spring rolls, egg rolls, collard greens, New York deli style pasta salad, fresh bread, and especially the desserts. The Boston cream pie was okay, but the German chocolate cake was great. The lemon bar was good, but the real star of the show was the key lime pie. We also used the fresh pasta bar, where a cook will sautee fresh ingredients of your choosing and then toss them with your choice of pasta, sauce, and seasoning. It was wonderful. There were a very few misses - the sweet potatoes were a bit bland, the general Tso’s chicken did not seem fresh, and the pizza bar was worth skipping over entirely. The staff were all very cheerful and helpful and eager to help make our dining experience very pleasant. All in all, for the $29.99 price point, this was a lovely buffet meal. I would come again, and I’d save room for a second slice of key lime pie."
"After a GLOWING recommendation from a friend who went here a couple of years ago, we decided to try it during our vacation. Needless to say, I may have to rethink that friendship……The dessert really saved this place or else I’d have given it a 1 and I’m not even a dessert guy. Service was not good taking more than 10+ minutes for each drink order (just water and soda). They have 3 gravy’s but only 2 meats so that made no sense. Why do you have turkey gravy if the only meat you serve is ham and flank steak? Both overcooked and practically inedible. They have a bunch of digiornio-esque pizzas. They have a video playing on a loop of grilled shrimp but only offer cold shrimp cocktail. $30 was just not worth it and kids are the same price too. Just avoid this joint."
