"Dr. Lisa Hernandez is a true old style doctor that treats the patient as a whole person. Although you may have symptoms of a cold, she examines you thoroughly for ALL your symptoms. Medical insurance stinks for doctors in small private practices like hers and yet, the concierge treatment does NOT AT ALL reflect the paltry sums that your medical insurance provides. This is because of her love of her work and integrity in her practice. She is direct, no nonsense and clear on her advice."
"I have been going to this office for many years. The girls are wonderful, and the PA Christina is excellent. After my last experience with Dr. Hernandez I'm convinced that they are what keeps this practice going. I usually made my appointments with Christina but because I needed forms filled out for my job and I still wasn't feeling well I took a sooner appointment with Dr. Hernandez. In July of 2021 I tested positive for covid. I myself am a healthcare worker on a covid unit and have had some strange symptoms that I wasn't entirely sure were due to covid. I was also recently diagnosed with Lupus. From the moment Dr. Hernandez walked into the room she seemed disgusted. She completely disregarded and belittled me. She even questioned my Lupus diagnosis as if I was making it up. I was so stunned by her behavior that I actually cried in the office. I still had some tests that I needed to have done and her response to that was "what are these tests going to do for you anyway? Is going for them going to make you feel better?". Since I still wasn't feeling like myself, I thought it would be a good idea to stay out of work until I finished all of my tests. She was not pleased with this and seemed annoyed that I had asked. She accused me of just not wanting to go to work and told me that she couldn't keep me out "because I was tired". Without even letting me explain myself, she basically chalked up any symptoms that she thought I was having to anxiety and told me to see a psychiatrist. If I spoke to my patients the way that she spoke to me I wouldn't have a job. The fact that she thought it was acceptable to speak to someone who she claimed had such a high level anxiety in such a disrespectful manner is truly astounding. She was completely unprofessional. Luckily I was able to obtain my test results on my own because she didn't bother to call me with them either. Dr Hernandez, if you're reading this I would like to remind you that the same way ignored my concerns and told me that you aren't a rheumatologist or a cardiologist, you also aren't a psychiatrist. Never again will I return to this office."
"I survived Covid in March 2020. I was hospitalized and on oxygen. It was the the most scared I have ever been. When I finally came home to my children, who I thought I’d never see again, I was told to follow up with my dr. Instead of being kind and caring Dr. Hernandez berated me for not talking care of myself, getting a mammo—during the pandemic! And for not seeing a dentist—during the pandemic. She was neither kind nor caring. When I tried to explain that I recently had a child and was being seen by my ob, then was nursing and that’s why I didn’t get a mammo yet—and it’s a pandemic—she made snide comments saying I was making excuses. When I told her I was a single parent of two and one of my children has special needs so I’m doing the best I can, her reply was, “Well I am a single parent who takes care of a sick mother and I still find the time to take care of myself”. She actually made me cry on the telehealth call. I was honestly shocked by her behavior, her presumed superiority. Nothing about this conversation ended in any care or guidance during a very trying time, except maybe that it was all my fault I should be ashamed of not taking better care of myself. Do no harm? I think not. If I treated my students the way she treated me, I’d be fired. I’d also be a terrible human."
"I have no idea how someone can leave anything less than 5 stars. You can't escape the two of these highly experienced, extremely competent, compassionate and caring medical professionals. As a middle aged male, I do what most of us do at this age -- which is try to hide some of the signs that I may not be living a healthy lifestyle. Overweight, high cholesterol, etc. No other doctor was able to convince me to finally go on a statin. My dad had bypass surgery. We have a genetic predisposition for high cholesterol. To make it worse, the good cholesterol is low and the bad is high. My BMI is 31. I'm obese. As a former competitive athlete, I try to block out what comes with being sedentary at this age. The concern that these two have often comes with a tone that is serious, somewhat playful in speech, yet to the point. They have no problem getting to the point until you feel as if your tough sister, or really cool aunt just told you a thing or two. I appreciate that. I'm happy to say that my numbers for cholesterol went from near 300 down to 167. All blood work is good. In fact, I tried to avoid another check up and renew a prescription. They wouldn't have it. I had to do more blood work as a follow up to see how well my body adjusted to the medication. This is the standard of care that they provide. The blood work showed that I'm anemic. Being that I have been a G.I. patient for years due to acid reflux, Arbor Medical informed me that there is a concern that someone with my history of G.I. issues, who becomes anemic, may be showing signs of colon cancer. They were blunt in saying that I must schedule an appointment with my internist. When I met with him, he agreed that this was indeed true and said that if there was an issue, that I was not scheduled for another "Camera" as I call it, for another few years. He gave praise to Arbor for their attention to detail. My children go to Arbor. All results such as throat cultures and blood work are communicated to us promptly. Usually the next day. With the amount of patients that they treat daily, I can only wonder how they maintain the pace while maintaining their unique sense of humor that is what I believe, to be what keeps bring families back, year after year."
