"My three years old brother was taken to this emergency room because he has been throwing up and not been able to eat for days and was having difficulty breathing. He waited in the emergency room for 6 hours with no care and there wasn't even alot of people waiting. We had to take him to staten Island hospital where within 30 minutes he got taken care of"
"For all the moms that have been asking recently about delivering at RUMC, I don’t suggest it at all. Unless you’re giving birth during the day or something. We just got one of the worst treatments by the night nurses in L&D. I’ve been here since the morning- my situation is a little different. I have high risk twins and today we had some complications that led to me being “admitted until delivery so they can monitor the babies”. I was put in a private room. I was told this is my room until delivery- I’m right across from the OR in the chance we have to deliver early. We made arrangements for my daughter to visit during the week. Because I am here for an INDEFINITE amount of time. My husband went home to get me some pillows, put our daughter to sleep and leave her with grandparents. All to just get a call from me at 9pm that he can’t come back. Because they are moving me from my room to a public non private antepartum unit so that they can monitor me and another twin mom simultaneously (I guess to make their job easier) and that no visitors are allowed overnight because it is a shared space. I asked.. “do I have to be moved?” The nurse said “you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do but let me ask my manager”few minutes later manager comes back “oh we need these rooms for laboring moms” - mind you I’m here indefinitely AND having contractions- while one of my babies isn’t even getting adequate blood flow. But whatever right? So almost immediately they moved me and guess what? I’m the only patient in here- no other patient at all. And my husband who was on the way here, I had to tell him to turn right around and go home because he’s not allowed back until visiting hours 12pm tomorrow. Idk if this is a night nurse vs day nurse poor quality of care issue. Because the day nurses were doing anything and everything to keep me comfortable and were so nice. Then these night nurses came and flipped everything upside down. Terrible. The least they could’ve done is told us earlier or given us the night and made arrangements tomorrow- not just spring this on us and move me within a matter of minutes- who does that to a mom in L&D. Smh."
"If I could give a 0 star review I would. It is incredible that this hospital has the privilege of working with precious human beings. This is our third day calling and all we called for was to see if blood work was done on a newborn baby - no one knows. Spoke to someone at “medical records”, was transferred to “labs”, then to “labor and delivery”, they didn’t know so they transferred me to “maternity” who didn’t respond to my question and transferred me back to “labs.” Extreme rude, unprofessional, and apathetic. I do not recommend this hospital to anyone who wants a professional and pleasant experience."
"The customer service was great, and everyone made me feel very comfortable and informed me of what was going on throughout the whole process. The process was not as long as I expected it to be, and wasn't as much waiting as I thought. My ultrasound was great and the ultrasound tech was very kind. The medicine during the procedure made me feel very relaxed. The doctor and nurses who did my procedure were very compassionate and accommodating to me. Overall my experience was amazing and I highly recommend this place."
"I spent there 3 days, the place is generally good, but some areas could benefit from improvement. The staff like nurses and doctors were predominantly good, I suggest that you pay attention to what CNAs are doing - they not always taking the accurate measurements(like your blood pressure) - wife had a blood pressure of 155, they measured once, didn't like the number, measured another two times, different sleeves etc, got the number 120 and it worked for them. Wife had a life threatening condition btw, had to stay 5 days there. If you giving birth you can book a room like in a hotel, much more comfortable, will offset you $900. Food leaves much to be desired. The sandwiches are edible though. They have nice places around the hospital, better go there. Nurses are very nice, had good experience with them. Our RN Jill Dawson were super nice and helpful, professionally approached the patients and paid attention to what's happening, you don't see that often. Nurses where you spend the time after delivery are good too, some of them are ladies with 30+ years of experience, don't expect them to be nice smiley happy campers, if you work in a hospital for so long it can make you a bit bitter about people around you. They are nice people though, just don't look welcoming if you know what I mean. Buy them some cookies or chocolates. Or booze? Water from the faucet was permanently cold, door was creaky, room could benefit from ventilation. On the positive side, the bed is huge, you have your own shower and tv, fridge and comfy couchlike chair. To fight creaky door hinges you can use a concoction of white petrolatum and hand sanitizer, put it in that baby feed bottle and squirt on hinges. Because the maintenance guy will never come no matter what. All put together - not a bad experience, good hospital."
