Services Offered:
The Carteret Board of Health manages a wide range of services, including Vital Statistics, the Office on Aging, Senior Transportation, and Environmental Health. Our dedicated team ensures that all health complaints and concerns are handled promptly. We are responsible for issuing Retail Food Licenses, conducting Retail Food Inspections, and providing Dog and Cat licenses.
Vital Statistics:
We offer certified copies of Birth, Death, and Marriage certificates, as well as Marriage licenses. Please note that appointments are required for marriage and civil union license applications.
Preventative Health Services:
We conduct Preventative Health Screening Clinics, offering services such as Eye, Hearing, Mammograms, Melanoma, Osteoporosis, Blood Screenings, Well Baby Clinics, and Flu and Pneumococcal Clinics.
Office on Aging:
Our Office on Aging is committed to supporting senior citizens with a variety of programs and services. We offer free programs and assistance in accessing state, federal, and private programs, as well as activities like group exercise, arts & crafts, and bingo. Our office also assists seniors with inquiries and applications for programs such as social security benefits and the Lifeline Credit program.
Senior Transportation:
We provide transportation services to in-town medical providers, supermarkets, malls, and social/recreational events. In partnership with the Middlesex County Office On Aging, we offer meals on wheels and congregate meals for homebound seniors. Please schedule pick-up 24 hours in advance by calling (732-802-3014).
Pet Licensing:
In accordance with N.J.A.C. 8:23A-4.2, we issue dog licenses, requiring a rabies vaccination certificate from a licensed veterinarian. We recommend revaccination of dogs and cats before the expiration of the previous vaccination to maintain effective immunity.

- Mondays: 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.
- Wednesdays: 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.
- Fridays: 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.
