"Do you want to watch your mother scream from pain for hours without anyone trying to help her? If yes, come here! Thank god I convinced her to leave after 2 hours, we were welcomed at NYU and treated urgently. P.S: We found out she had a tear inside her and her organs were almost falling out while she was loosing liquid. If we would have stayed here she could have died!"
"My visit to JC Medical Center’s emergency room today with my wife was profoundly disappointing and unsettling, marked by interactions that significantly detracted from the care we hoped to receive in a moment of urgent need. Our journey began at an urgent care facility that, unfortunately, could not provide the necessary assistance for my wife’s condition, prompting us to seek help at JC Medical Center’s ER—the only in-network option available according to my Google search, despite its concerning 2-star rating. Upon arrival, it was evident that my wife was in severe pain, at times screaming in agony—a testament to her unusually high pain tolerance. During check-in, an interaction with a younger front desk staff member quickly escalated in frustration. Despite my wife’s acute pain and inability to communicate effectively due to both the severity of her condition and language barriers (English is her second language), the staff member insisted on hearing the medical history directly from her. Despite my attempts to convey critical information—bearing in mind my thorough familiarity with my wife’s medical history over the past 8 years—the staff member’s insistence only served to delay the process. My attempts to communicate directly and efficiently were met with accusations of rudeness and a lack of cooperation on my part, an assertion I found both unfounded and unhelpful in the context of emergency medical care. The situation further deteriorated when I was incorrectly accused of being abusive and disrespectful, leading to me being barred from accompanying my wife during her assessment—despite her explicit request for my presence to assist in accurately conveying her medical history. This misunderstanding was compounded by an authoritative figure at the ER, who confronted me with unnecessary hostility and ultimately threatened my removal from the premises. Throughout this ordeal, my wife repeatedly expressed her need for my support inside, highlighting the critical role I play in ensuring her medical needs are fully understood and appropriately addressed. Despite this, no effort was made to communicate with me or clarify the situation until we decided to leave—against medical advice—due to the lack of understanding and support we experienced. To add insult to injury, we were billed $1,500 for what amounted to an utterly dissatisfactory and distressing experience. More disturbing were the unfounded inquiries made to my wife about potential abuse, based on false accusations and a complete misinterpretation of my actions and intentions. This experience has not only shaken our trust in JC Medical Center but has also highlighted a pressing need for empathy, understanding, and clear communication within emergency medical services. It’s disheartening to see how quickly situations can escalate based on misinterpretations and preconceived notions, leading to unnecessary barriers to care and support for patients and their families in critical times of need."
"Everyone there is a zombie. No one knows anything. They seem robotic with their robotic answers. There was only 1 doctor (Dr. Flemmings) for both adult and pediatric, why is there only 1 doctor? I arrived at 1050pm, it is now 350am and we haven't been seen by the doctor. There is only 1 nurse in the ER. Terrible service, no life in these robotic humans."
"I had back injury from golf accompanied with chest pain and constant headache. Went to ER hoping to rule out any heart condition. Waiting area is brand new and spotless. I was admitted to do ECG within 20min. After that I had a televisit with a doc which was awkward considering you are in the emergency. Then they took me in and young nurse was extremely professional, fast and diligent. She drew blood, gave pills. Then I was taken for X-ray. Later shift has changed and another, older, nurse took over and the disaster started. She was slow, indifferent, non responsive, made me sit with the catheter in my vain for a long time and wouldn’t check on me when I was ready to leave and was occupying a bed. PURE INEFFICIENCY! Hire young, smart and spry nurses and you ll have no waiting times!!! OUTCOME: They helped me with muscle pain, but I’m still getting chest pains and have no clue why."
