"Great experience with Dr. Stevens. She takes the time to not only explain a procedure but also listen and answer any questions you might have. Wonderful bedside manner. I have recommended her to other family members who see her as well."
"I didn’t even get a foot in the door here! I have been having long running gastric issues which have ramped up in the last few months. I am at the point of desperation and am seeking a second or possibly third opinions. I called the office yesterday and spoke to a “Joann” or “Joanna” and unfortunately busted into tears telling her why I’d like to come in and hopefully become a patient. I was very overwhelmed by my emotions and apologized several times. The girl was so uncaring and callous and gave me a blunt answer of: “Dr. Stevens is on vacation until next week and we can’t get you in until September”. I was stunned. This is the empathy that medical offices have now?! This name was highly recommended to me from several folks and honestly, if that’s how a simple phone call goes there, maybe I’m better off. I hope that receptionist never feels what I’m feeling and is never treated how she treated me."
"I went to see Dr Stevens for the first time a few days ago. Her bed side manor was exceptional. Not only did she listen to me, she asked a lot of questions so she knew where to start for testing and possible treatment. I didn't feel like I was just a number and she didn't rush. She explained everything she was going to be doing and testing for in detail so I never felt left in the dark. I was very happy with my visit and I would recommend Dr Stevens to anyone. (her office staff was amazing as well)"
"This is Laurie. I had used this practice since, Dr. Gordon, then Dr. Younger, and Dr. Shlien. She was condescending, rude, inappropriate but from what I gather a competent doctor. She saw me on Christmas Eve (which was MY decision, as it was the most convenient) and yet, I feel it's rude to be open for a religious holiday because she has staff etc. to consider. #2 She walked in the room and said she was here to talk about my UC and when I said (and not to show off but it is a difference in risk for cancer, treatment etc) I have sigmoid/proctitis she responded "well none of my patents know these terms so I call it UC". Most patients know more about their illness than most doctors I have found. Rude Rude Rude. And with that, I should have gotten up and left. #3 she wasn't happy with my mask and gave me another mask (ok, but it was more a subtle "I'm in charge here) and #3 and this is the one that made me drop her immediately, she said that for the last 5 DECADES through that facility, I was not being prescribed the correct medicine dosages and if I were to continue with her, she would change that. When a doctor puts down the opinion of other doctors, red flags should go up. AND every doctor I have spoken to regarding this before and since said once you achieve remission on a disease, you take it to the lowest maintenance appropriate. As others have said, she seems indifferent, superior and while that doesn't make her a BAD doctor, most doctors of those attitudes recognize medicine for what it is a BUSINESS and by now have either died or retired, the younger ones seem to have additional training in herbs, the psychology of a disease and the rest of it. If I were Shlien, I would get another doctor in that office before he loses both his reputation and patients. AND that is tragic as the business (aka) office ran for decades as I said since the 1970's without these kinds of reviews. And Happy Hannukah to you Dr. Stevens. See? It goes both ways, I respect your holiday, you should respect others."
"At the start of my Crohn’s journey, I was scared, worried, etc. and went to Dr. Stevens completely vulnerable. There was zero bedside manner & no reassurance. I then overheard her on a telehealth call asking the same scripted questions to another patient and it just made me feel like a number to her and not like a patient (she made a condescending comment to him about how he’s WAY overdue for his colonoscopy). I really wasn’t trying to overhear their telehealth call but it was so loud and obvious and that alone should be a breach in HIPAA. I’m so glad I switched GIs because with my continuous GI struggles, I have to contact my doctor a lot and would not be comfortable having her as my doctor. Just my opinion though."
