"Got to the office on time and had to wait over an hour to be seen. I actually had to tell them that if the doctor didn't see me in 5 minutes, I was going to leave. Suddenly, I was seen...amazing. That's not why I took off three stars...the reason I only gave 2 stars is that my stepson recently had surgery through Dr. Kraushaar. My wife tried to find out how much our out of pocket cost would be for the surgery since I knew our insurance wouldn't cover the whole thing. The office was unable to tell her. I have a real problem with that. When you go to the dentist and they say you need a root canal, the office calls your insurance company and finds out what your out of pocket costs would be and shares it with you before going forward with the root canal. With this surgery, because it was done at Nyack hospital, no one, including Nyack Hospital could tell my wife how much it would cost out of pocket. I think it's HIGHLY unethical to schedule a patient for surgery and not be able to accurately communicate how much the surgery will cost. It's really irresponsible and it's not just Dr. Kraushaar's office's fault, Nyack hospital is to blame too. It looks like I'm in the minority here on Google with this review. I liked the Doctor, but I won't be back. There are plenty of good doctors with offices that are more responsible than this one Since I can't respond to what you wrote, I'm adding to my review to respond to you. I personally don't care that you are blaming the back office. Ultimately, you are a revenue generator at Montefiore so maybe you can push them to be upfront with your patients about out of pocket costs. The idea that your office is ok with springing a $4,000+ bill onto a patient without the patient agreeing to the cost upfront is borderline criminal. Your office couldn't even tell my wife how much they were going to bill the insurance company for my stepson's surgery. Well, they sure knew what to bill when the surgery was over! It's an awful business practice and I will never go back to you or Montefiore again (notice I cancelled my follow-up appointment with you last week). You may be a good doctor and a nice guy, but Montefiore just brought down your average score, not me. Go take it up with them."

"Dr Kraushaar is the most exceptional orthopedic doctor in this county. I recommend him often because of his talent, bedside manner and his availability. He is a doctor who will call you directly. His staff are kind and always do everything they can to accommodate. My son, who has a disability, has been seeing him for years and Dr Kraushaar is always compassionate, spends a great deal of time and always helps us to understand the injury and treatment. He takes the time to know you and that makes all the difference. I am grateful we have such a phenomenal doctor!"

The scan only proved what he found upon examination. His first approach to resolving my issue has been physical therapy, which turns out to make a world of difference in my quality of living. "Dr. Kraushaar is wonderful. He is kind, caring, and patient. He takes however much time is needed to make sure that I understand what is going on and why. He explains, in detail, what is going on and why I have a problem. I have had him do several surgeries when needed as well as my family members. I recommend him to anyone who asks about an orthopedic. He has tremendous integrity and, even though he himself is highly skilled in his profession, I know of several times that he has referred a patient to someone whom he feels would do a better job.
