"This is my favorite store to go to for wine, liquor, and canned beverages. I’ve discovered many new wonderful things due to recommendations by the owner and the workers as well. At a time when everything seems to be extremely overpriced and hard to afford- I find that the prices at this shop are fair and well below the Upper East Side expectations. I’ve gone to every liquor store within half a mile radius and none can beat these prices. I love coming in here randomly because they also often have tastings and I get to try new canned drinks and wines. And every time I will leave with something new to try. The store is perfectly situated close to Carl Schurz & it’s so nice to walk in here and not only get a bottle for a picnic- but they also uncork it for me if I’ve forgotten to pack one (as I often do). They’re open early and stay open quite late which is also convenient for my schedule. All in all- Full service with many smiles and you’ll leave happy. Nothing ruins my day like snobby wine store owners/workers & you just get friendly help here. They are knowledgeable and truly love what they’re doing at Wine at 79."

"Things have changed dramatically for the better in this store the last couple of years. Service has been consistently excellent. (Leo is tireless and ladies seem to find Magdy and Nico particularly attractive!!!!) Choice is also excellent, specially for Pinot Grigio. Always cold! Weekly tasting. They have some difficult-to-find “second fame” local French wines. I left 1 star out because prices are just average."

"Absolutely a gem and incredibly convenient! The selection is very variable and if I need something I can always request it. The staff is really helpful and very friendly. I’ve enjoyed getting to know them and they offer a loyalty program, in this economy any coupons are very helpful. We all broke as a collective. I definitely recommend this place and don’t shop anywhere else for my dry wine and gin selection!"
