"Staff is wonderful. The place could definitely use a make over. That would help the patients and staff. Heard staff turnover is very low. That's a good thing."
"So here’s the thing. I’m rating this as a place to work and as a place where the residents are cared for. I wasn’t there for long. Almost 3 months or so. This is my HONEST opinion experienced first hand. As a place to work: definitely could be better. I put up with a lot. I had a good boss and worked with some good people all around the building and on the wards. Staff know their professions well. Admin are fantastic and handle everything swiftly. Then there are the people who really had no reason to be there. Either they had a lot to say about nothing, complained constantly, or made the working environment toxic and extremely stressful. I harbor no I’ll will towards any of my friends and old coworkers but it is hard to ignore when you’re trying your hardest to do your best. Especially with 0 experience under your belt and you’re learning to do everything. I had several issues right from the get go with several people. Most issues had been rectified in a timely manner and normally, everything was okay. Except when it wasn’t. I was fired so quick because of my own wrongdoing (I accept that and put it past me as it wasn’t a huge deal), but at the same time, it’s also a relief to have the stress (the stress which was causing me actual health issues mind you) gone. While most people there are fantastic and hardworking, there are a handful that make it hard and just so stressful you never want to come into work at all. I can’t bring myself to recommend it unless you’re higher up in the working world and not just part time minimum wage. As for the residents: I think they’re EXTREMELY well taken care of. I have witnessed first hand how diligent and wonderful the nurses and CNAs are. I’ve talked to many residents there and they all are happy, healthy, and well taken care of. They get meds on time, showered on time, and changed clothes when necessary. They always have help if needed and entertainment. Even being restricted to their room if they are because of movement being limited, they have entertainment and human enrichment. I have only had one issue really ever with a CNA and reported it and PROMPTLY had it resolved. The only other discrepancy I have had there is while I have all that good stuff to be said, and there’s no abuse there, the staff is short and stuff is hard to get done all the time with the small amount of CNAs/Nurses there. I can’t say anything truly bad about anything there, but because of short staffing and long hours, stuff can get missed and kind of just let go sometimes that shouldn’t be. While understandable for some things, like missing a snack here or there or waiting to do something until later, there’s other things like literally not getting a resident out of bed to eat where they’re supposed to or woken up for meal times so they can get their nutrition and liquids they need. It doesn’t happen EVERY day and the CNAs are good about getting them food later if it’s missed, but it wouldn’t happen at all with better staffing and less turn over. I made friends with a good handful of residents while there and established a good rapport with the few who I did talk to. I had very good relationships with them and a couple felt more like family than just friends. I wish more people did that there. My overall rating is based on work experience and how well the residents are taken care of. It’s not the best but it’s also not the worst. While I wouldn’t suggest working there unless you know someone there, have a higher up job, or know your job extremely well, I would say leaving a loved one there weather it be for a short or extended period of time or even permanently, wouldn’t be bad at all. There’s no covid cases at all and almost all staff are fully vaccinated with the booster or at least fully vaccinated without the booster and all wear masks 24/7 everywhere in the building with on-site testing available by a fantastic covid specialist and nurses if needed. I just hope in future working environments are better and less stressful for everyone and better staffing on the wards will happen."
"My mother has lived at Groton Community Health Care Center for two and a half years. She has always been treated well and the staff are kind and friendly. I am glad that my mom is safe and well cared for at this facility."
"This Center was great a year ago. They have the best employees but lose them frequently. The Center needs to take care of their employees. I have had issues and brought them up to the management and nothing changed. The management does not like working with the families of their residents. The management will not communicate with the families and it is a lesson in futility to work with them."
"While the place can get crowded the staff are friendly and ever present at pool side. Plenty of seating if you don't want to take a dip in the pool. They even have a dedicated wading pool for the wee ones. Price can't be beat as it's free to the public. Sorry I'm posting late being summer is over, but I enjoyed this so much better than the one in Cortland."
