Reviews
"DONT LET THE 4.8 RATING FOOL YOU!! (20 people including me reviewed this place and they have been open decades the ONLY reason they stayed in business so long is they are pretty much one of the only Music shops in New Castle. Thank God Boardman Ohio and Guitar Center isn't too far away.) I went into this store to buy strings. And I was looking at the guitars and I was going to buy a guitar. And the guy there was very rude. And straight up didn't want to sell me a guitar. I was looking at an Alvarez and a Yamaha, and the guy said "oh these guitars are consignment only we only take cash" before he even looked. Then I said "I've been coming here for years I didn't know that" and I said "all of them"? and at 1st he said "yeah everything we have over there is consignment only" in a rude way as he walked away and back to his guitar lesson session. Then I said "I'm ready when you are sir and I asked one more time "so ALL the guitars here are cash only? Because the cash only sign is only behind those guitars" and he said "You're gonna have to give me a couple of minutes" a customer walked in behind me and he straight ignored me and took care of him. And then he said the only guitars we sell that the guy that owns the place own are green tags. I was looking at a green tagged item and had every intention of slapping my card down and giving them my business. I'd rather support local businesses than huge companies like Guitar Center. But after the way this guy treated me, I'll never go back there ever again. He was giving lessons, and I was nice enough to let him give lessons while I browsed. So yes, I may have been interrupting his lesson to PURCHASE an instrument, but why would you have nobody manning the sales floor for walk-in customers. And for him to 1st straight up, try to deny me a sale and then treat me like I was a bothersome loiterer when I would have been a great paying customer. He treated me like I was poor or not worthy of his time. When he has no idea how much I could have spent with them. So yeah, 1 star and 0 stars if I could. Terrible place it used to be good, but now I wouldn't recommend anyone going to this place ever!!! This guy is rude, unprofessional, and condescending, and there was no misinterpreting on my behalf this guy was rude. What a Shame. Even if he was busy giving a lesson which, as I said, I was kind enough to let him continue. I'm a PAYING customer. He had no reason to treat me that way. Well, Music Showcase just lost 1000s of dollars in business that I'm sure you need. With that little store open Monday through Thursday 3pm-7pm, I got my strings, and I won't be back. Good luck. But for anyone else thinking of going there, go to Guitar Center. I will from now on, that's for sure. I honestly don't want to give a place a bad review especially a small business because they are a dying breed and struggling most of the time to compete with larger entities. But this is not the way to do business and treat people. Especially in a face to face industry where the musicians want to play the instrument before they buy it. So I hate to be that guy, but this review is well deserved."
"My daughter is just now starting band. With a saxophone. They helped us very well. I have no idea about saxophones. And the person behind the counter was very wonderful."
"Rick is a great teacher. They have all the bells and whistles for my sons guitar. I’m positive even if they didn’t have something that was needed, they would make sure to get it . They go above and beyond. Great people!!"
"My son goes there for guitar lessons and thinks his teacher is the coolest as he is up to date with the craziest of songs he has asked him to teach him. Very kind considerate and understanding teacher too."
"Rick Stoner is legitimately one of the best guitarists in the country. He can listen to anything and be playing it spot on within days. I’m talking stuff from Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Jason Becker, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Brad Paisley, simple easy classic rock tunes, jazz tunes, country tunes, heavy metal tunes, you name it! ASK FOR RICK STONER!!! He’s insanely friendly and an overall awesome dude. He’ll teach you THE RIGHT WAY how to play whatever you want to learn!!"
