Located in the picturesque town of Preble, New York, the Little York Lake Preservation Society (LYLPS) is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Little York Lake's natural beauty and ecological health. Situated on Little York Park Road, our organization is committed to fostering a clean and healthy environment for current and future generations to enjoy.

Our Mission:

At LYLPS, we believe that maintaining the pristine condition of Little York Lake begins with the active involvement of our community. We focus on promoting sustainable practices, such as proper septic system maintenance, to prevent nutrient runoff that contributes to unwanted weed growth. Join us in our efforts to preserve our beloved lake by attending one of the Cortland County Soil and Water Conservation District’s septic system workshops. Participants will receive a $100 coupon for septic system maintenance, helping to keep our lake clean and thriving.

Community Events:

We host a variety of engaging activities throughout the year to bring our community together and celebrate the beauty of Little York Lake. Join us for our Annual Boat Parade on Saturday, July 6, at 6 pm, starting at the north end of the lake. No pre-registration is required; simply bring your creativity and enjoy the spectacle. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers, thanks to the generous support of our community members like Laura Fregosi.

Lake Management and Preservation Efforts:

Our annual lake drawdown, scheduled to begin on October 1st, is a crucial part of our weed management strategy. This process, managed by the Cortland County Highway Department, helps control shoreline weed growth and allows property owners to perform necessary maintenance. We are committed to minimizing environmental impact and ensuring the health of the lake's ecosystem.

Fundraising and Support:

We are excited to announce the launch of our "Raffle for Restoring the Splendor of Little York Lake," presented by Hage Real Estate. Running from September 1st to September 30th, this daily raffle features prizes from local merchants and a grand prize of $100 cash. All proceeds will support the ongoing maintenance and preservation of Upper Little York Lake. Your participation and the support of our local businesses are vital to the success of this campaign.

Membership dues of $25 for the 2022/23 year are now being collected, and your support is crucial to our mission. We also invite you to our community gatherings, which often feature potluck picnics and discussions about our lake management plans.
