"The memorial was dedicated in 1997 and was erected in honor of early residents who were brave enough to break the nearby traffic light because they felt the red light at the top over the green light at the bottom honored the British "redcoats" at the cost of Ireland. The life-size figures include a father pointing at the traffic light to his wife, son and daughter. You might notice the slingshot in his back pocket. The "Green over Red" traffic light is apparently the only such configuration in the United States."

"Small memorial with a beautiful statue commemorating a historical event amongst the Irish population in Syracuse. The monument depicts three people looking at the famous "upside-down traffic light," a "fight" by the Irish population in support of Irish home rule. It's a fun spot for pictures, especially if you have just visited Coleman's Pub. The memorial is also home to Tipp Hill's christmas tree. Although small, you can rope this into a neighborhood tour of several other moments and locations when out for a walk."
