Central Library, a Brooklyn icon since its opening on February 1, 1941, boasts a stunning Art Deco façade and a grand lobby. It was designated a New York City Landmark in 1997 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. As part of a major renovation project, the library continues to evolve, with the first phase completed in 2021 and the second phase underway.

Inside, you'll find the Dr. S. Stevan Dweck Cultural Center, the innovative Shelby White & Leon Levy Information Commons, and the Business and Career Center, offering resources for job searches, entrepreneurship, and personal finance. With collections spanning three floors and materials in over 30 languages, Central Library is fully accessible and serves as a selective Federal Depository for government publications.
