"Not worth it for me to go on a frequent basis. 4 stars for the facility but leave this for the local Astoria community. They deserve to enjoy a local attraction. Wait is about 45m on a Wednesday at 11am (July 3rd). Long lines, limited pool space - the only part they opened was the middle due to shortage of life guard coverage. no lap swimming that day - always ask before lining up to save you some time. Remember if you DO go - bring a book, a strong thick lock, no phones and a proper Lined bathing suit (they check). Only water bottle, towel, swim attire (sunscreen included) and book allowed in pool area. absolutely no tablets/phone etc. no food. They have a concession stall for snacks and food if you get hungry. One thing I liked was the stone slabs on the sidelines to lay towel down and get some sun."
"For the most part, the Astoria pool was really nice. Very spacious, clean water, lots of room. I went on a Monday at around 1:30-3:00, so there was no wait and it wasn't crowded. However, their guidelines are very strict. No food, no electronics, no shirts unless they're white. Also, the lifeguards all looked to be teenagers and were blowing their whistles excessively just because some kids were touching the pool dividers. We had a very nice time until 3:00 when they closed the pool. This was expected, and we got out fairly quickly. At the locker rooms, the employees were yelling for everyone to hurry up, and no one even got to shower. When someone would try to, several employees would start shouting to just change and get out. There were no curtains so I was hurriedly changing when an employee came over, started rushing me to change and talking about how she needs to take her lunch break. My child was putting on her shorts when that same employee started rushing her too. I told the employee to stop, as she was only a kid, and the employee proceeded to tell me that I'm not a kid, so I could leave. I wasn't going to abandon my kid in a locker room just so that lady could eat lunch 2 minutes earlier. My husband later told me that the men's locker rooms were pretty chill. Overall, the pool was really nice, but the employees definitely need to treat their visitors better and maybe get people out of the pool like 30 minutes before they close so people have time to shower and change."
"It's been about 20 years since I've last been to this Pool. Back in Middle School in the late 90s during the Summer, my class would come here at least twice a Summer and it's always been a blast. Now as an almost middle aged adult in an attempt to weather through almost triple digit weather, Astoria Pool hasn't lost its charm. As good as the trip was, it isn't perfect. Since it was a hot day, there was a rather long queue that I had to wait through, which fortunately wasn't as long as I thought it would be. There are a couple of rules and regulations which do make enough sense to follow. No electronics in the pool area, you must have a lock for your locker and shower before and after being in the pool. A towel is recommended. The one drawback would be the locker rooms. I dunno how the women's one looks like since I'm a man but the men's locker leaves a lot to be desired. I know it's a public use facility but it could be more taken care of so it would look less like a Gulag from Call of Duty: Warzone, plus the lockers are pretty small, I was amazed that I could fit all of my stuff in there. Other than that, it's a nice way to kill some time on a hot day. Be mindful of their schedule though because an hour break is utilized from 3 to 4 PM."
