"This establishment is way over priced. Charged me $200 for a wash and retwist. The Loctician was huffing and puffing, very unpleasant type of of person. Also very unprofessional, stylist was having personal conversations o the phone during service"
"My experience here was great !! Came in as a walk in they took me right away , shampooed my hair, treatment and styled . I have thinning hair and was nervous but they made the experience all the better . Nia and Jas were very accommodating and assisted in all details of my hair. I highly recommend them you will not be disappointed!!"
"The owner called the police on me erroneously and in front of my children. I went to the Clinton pl location as a first time customer. The owner/stylist is a black female, so of course, I wanted to support another African American woman and business. I drove over an hour to get my hair done. The services, loc reconstructions (neck length); a semi-permanent dye; and a deep conditioning cost me $500, which had to be paid before services were rendered. I paid using Zelle. I tipped 20% ($120) and brought a tee shirt ($25). The total cost of my trip was $645.00. My hair turned out great. At that time, I gave a review of five stars, which I since then deleted after today's incident. Today, I brought my daughters to get a double strand twist for the first time. Their hair is about ear length. I was told it would cost $400 up front. I had a great experience my first visit, so I was like let’s do it. This time, I paid using my card, which caused me to have to pay at another location (502 Springfield Ave) and a card fee of $14. I added a $55 tip. My card was processed, and I was told to take my receipt back to the Clinton Ave location. All was well, so I thought. Several hours later, I was told by the receptionist/assistant that the owner/stylist needed to speak with me. Eventually, the owner made herself available, and shortly thereafter, I was surrounded by two officers. I was accused of getting my girls' hair done (they hadn’t even finished) without paying for the service, as was reported by the owner. While I was outside with the owner and the police officers (who were condescending and presumed I was guilty of theft of service), I called my bank, Chase, on speaker phone in their presence. Chase confirmed on speaker phone that the $468 was, in fact, paid. In addition, I used my mobile app to show that the money had been taken out of my account. Despite hearing the Chase representative and seeing my transactions through my mobile app, the owner insisted I canceled the $468 transaction, and she was not paid. The police officers gave the owner a “complaint number” and left. The Chase representative stayed on the phone with me the entire time. He assured the owner that the charge was authorized. He then suggested that she call the company, who was financially involved, Clover, to find out what the problem was. He stayed on speaker while she called Clover on speaker with her cellphone. It turns out that the hair shop double charged my card $468, and her financial institution, Clover, denied one of the duplicate charges. The other was authorized, and she had, in fact, been paid. I never received an apology. Their hair was now done. It was mediocre, and we left to go home. One of my girls said “Ma. I know you told me to stay out of grown people conversations but I was listening to the lady with the red hair (the owner) told the other lady (the receptionist) to secretly record you while you were in the shop.” She went on to tell me how the owner was telling the receptionist that the double strand twists style wasn’t a good style for them because their hair was too thick and it would loc. She went on to tell the receptionist I would have to take their hair style out before two weeks to prevent them from locking. The owner/stylist should have shared that information with me when she made that assessment so I could make an informed decision about which way to proceed."
"The owner is nice and friendly. Clean and safe environment. Everyone is professional, I have been going there for 1 year this month. She even has a 2nd location in Montclair. I couldn't ask for a better stylist who knows what she is doing, and can guide me on my natural hair journey!"
