Intrigue Bar & Restaurant

"Decided to try this restaurant out, got there at about 6:30 and we were told we can sit anywhere, after about 15 mins the waitress came by and took our drink and food orders, the drinks took 30 minutes to come and taste like juice, no liquor at all in the rum punch, when we complained, the waitress said "ill let the bartender know" no accommodation. After an hour of waiting for the food we asked on the status and the waitress said "we are next in line" about 20-30 mins later the food finally came. The food was good and hot however when the bill came we asked for some sort of accommodation considering we waited so long for our drinks and food and according to the manager there was nothing she can do, she sat at a table and just smoked her hookah and never attempted to even come to our table to speak with us or apologize for the lack of service and long waits. They also take your ID when using a card to pay and write down your license number ( because they get a lot of chargebacks ) which is totally understandable since the service is horrible and they seem to not care about customer service, do not recommend and i will not be returning."

"Intrigue is the worst place I’ve ever been to in my nearly 26 years of life. My sister, brother, myself and all of my mother’s close friends planned a surprise dinner for my mother. It was supposed to be a really nice celebration and everything just went to s**t. We arrived with my mother around 8:40, but everyone who was there for the surprise arrived around 8:00. Upon getting there we ordered drinks with our waitress. I want to preface what I’m about to say with saying that the waitress was NOT a part of the problem AT ALL. She tried her best to make sure we were accommodated. She told us that there was only one cook and that she was gonna take our orders now because it was gonna take a while to get the food. They had no oxtail so my mother ordered jerk chicken. Honestly, we should’ve just left then because one cook on a Saturday is insanity. After about an hour and 30 mins our appetizers finally came out and as you can tell we were very displeased. After another 30 minutes the waitress came out to tell us that there was no jerk chicken. We had waited 2 HOURS. Ridiculous is an understatement. After having to seek down a manager they told us that they could only comp us a round of shots. On an empty stomach???? The whole time we were there the owner was walking around arrogant. Never once did he come over humbly and try to apologize for his poorly run business. We LEFT. DO NOT EVER patronize this establishment!!!"

"Avoid this place unless you want to experience what I’m going to describe firsthand. This will be long but a very accurate description of our visit there. We got there 8:50 and got promptly sat by the security. Our drink and food orders were taken at around 9:10. We decided to move to a new table around 9:20 and our drinks came at 9:45. Trying to find our waitress was difficult and we ended up waiting around 10-15 minutes before seeing her to ask for a new drink for my boyfriend and then menu for my drink. In the end for our 2nd round it took probably 30 more minutes. At this point we check the time and it is 10:35, no signs or updates on the food. When i asked the waitress she said there’s only one chef and that other people were there before me. Guess that definitely explains why 3 groups that came after us got their appetizers before us. We got our food at 10:51. I spoke to the manager who offered a 20% discount which was the employee discount and gave the same story about one chef. The food was good (I got jerk chicken with rice and peas and my boyfriend got their pasta with shrimp) but for an almost 2 hour wait, I definitely was expecting more. Now I’m gonna attach the bill so you can gauge the prices. They asked for my boyfriend’s ID and wrote down the actual number after he paid which is strange to say the least. We left at 11:23. The only good things about the night were the security who was attentive to tables (cannot say the same for the actual staff) and the Dj that was extremely good."

"I’ll start off with…. This is a hookah place so if you’re like me and don’t like the smoke then don’t go. Now that that’s out of the way…. I had the steamed snapper and it was very good. Decent size and well seasoned. The stir fried veggies tasted good but it was swimming in oil. Ackee fritters was a hit. Could be better if more ackee was in it but the taste was there so I gave it a pass. Plus it’s paired with a tamarind sauce which was not bad. The escovitch red snapper was decent. The drinks are a bit weak tho. Could hardly taste the alcohol in the rum punch. The least favorite thing I had was the rice & peas. No coconut and you could barely taste any other seasoning in it. The staff was friendly and helpful"

"DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!!!! There was no point in making a reservation if I still have to wait for a table. My reservation was for 8:30pm. Waited an hour to receive my drink that tasted like sour lemon juice and the next drink was missing ingredients. Now its after 10pm and still no appetizer or main dish. The waiter was horrible. He kept bringing orders from the kitchen and going to each table to ask if this is what they ordered. Meanwhile, he wrote your order down on a piece of paper. To add some spice to the mix, there was a couple that was seated at least 20 mins after us. The waiter came over to them and took their order. He had the audacity to turn to us and ask “did anyone take your order yet?” Meanwhile the menus were still on the table and he was the one that cleaned off the table for us. I cant even talk on the food because we left. What a way to mess up someone’s valentines day."
