"This has by far been my best book store experience. The selection is amazing, the customer service is superb, and the ambience is inviting enough to get some writing or reading done. I visited from DC and am so glad I came! Special shoutout to Noelle, Kim, and Set! The super team that cleaned up my wine mess as well as my shirt. They went above and beyond and I can’t wait to visit again the next time I’m in town!"
"Love this place. The vibe. The options. The prices. The customer service. Everything was perfect! PLUS WINE! I love Black Owned, Black Intelligence and Black Excellence!"
"2024, the year someone, anyone finally got me to read fiction consistently for an extended period of time. Acknowledgements to @tenanaan for her forever reaching third eye into the souls of readers. She and the staff at @thelitbar always push the envelope to find word seekers' arrangements of pages that defy their norms and push their brains into a separate reality. This morning I completed this work by the great #VictorLavalle . I somewhat read this book out of order after having read #LoneWoman January 20-January 25. I initially had not selected this work out of a group of 7 that Tenaja gave me to choose from. I thought I had already seen this on #AppleTv+. I selected Lone Woman, loved that, only to discover that, in reality, the series I thought I saw was not #The Changeling , it was M. Night Shyamalan's: Servant. The Changeling is a pounding thriller that will keep you guessing incorrectly from beginning to end. It will capture your attention with a rolling villain in all aspects of this real life/scifi/real life saga. Who is the bad guy/bad girl? Who should be arrested, hung, or given the Presidential Medal of Freedom? The question is: Who will make it? Is making it even an option? What is a win? Does "Happily ever after exist? It's worth stopping at The Lit. Bar to visit, read, drink, buy books that typical book sellers aren't selling. There is nothing in the world like being introduced to a world that has coexisted in the world you live in, without knowing it was there the whole damn time. Plan a trip to The Bronx, if you are already in the Bronx, make it your destination for new reading interest and a great reading vibe."
"Very cool store. Always exciting to be in a bookstore where you see plenty of books by authors that are black. So many options for kids books where they can see themselves reflected on the cover. Pure bliss. The wine bar in the back is a very cool perk. Also lots of relative books for those living in the city!"
"Absolutely adore this bookstore. This was my first visit and certainly not my last. I really loved the layout and overall store design. They really made this place inviting and gave me a whole new appreciation for books and the nostalgia you feel when you see a great cover. I was like a kid in a literary candy store. Oh and there is a bar in the back... love it."
