SIXT Rent a Car Newark Int Airport

"I'm not sure if a car is necessary in New York City itself (really think twice about it) but when you want to explore the eastern part and feel comfortable, having a car is essential. That was exactly the case for us. I am very grateful that Sixt had a special offer for three weeks and that we got an upgrade when we picked up the car. The car was clean and comfortable, and the long drives with the kids were a joy. Due to a flight cancellation, we had to change our car return from Newark Airport to LaGuardia Airport. We had to pay a fee for that, but it was still more cost-effective and convenient than taking a taxi with children, suitcases, and bags. After returning the car, we had a wonderful ride on the shuttle, and the driver even helped us load our luggage. I am very thankful for the service!"

"Jean was fast and courteous , and the selection of cars were quite impressive. Everyone from him to the guy who pointed me to my car was nice and helpful. Unfortunately the minute I was exciting the airport traffic and merging out warning lights flipped on , the rear tire only had 8 psi of air. Which felt like a massive oversight, I am traveling and don’t have cash or change on me so although I made the 30 minute drive to my hotel I’m not looking forward to figuring out how to get air for the tire. Hopefully there’s a Wawa nearby ."

"We booked a van 3 weeks in advance and paid for it in full. Showed up to get the van after our flight, and were told they didn't have the vehicle and if they could get one, my credit card would have to be charged again (double charging me at this point). After waiting for an eternity, they said they found a van that was brand new and we would be the first drivers in it (it was a brand new van, but we weren't the first renters to drive it). We were still 3 hours from our destination, so we paid and left. Upon returning the van, I had a feeling they were gonna try to conjure up some charges so I took pictures which included the gas guage. About half an hour later, we received our return receipt (they don't give it to you before you leave), and it said the gas tank was only 7/8 full. We had filled it right outside the airport before returning it. 4 days later, I am getting charged for them to fill it. When calling to dispute the charges, I'm told to email customer support and provide my bank statement(s) with all of our fill ups during our trip. I imagine most people just pay the charge instead of spending a bunch of time tracking down charges. Renter beware. We will never rent from them again, regardless of our dispute outcome."

"These guys did fantastic out of all the car rental companies I’ve ever dealt with probably in the thousands. This was definitely the best experience. I had the best car the best service and they really sold me on this. Yes, you pay more not much more but you get so much morethan the typical Avis or Thrifty or Budget or Dollar or Europcar rental agencies the staff there on March 26, 2024 was so great and she did such a fantastic job. "Rented a car at Newark International Airport location. The ladies at the desk were a bit disconnected per customer relations, but not the worst. I enjoyed my experience overall. The SUV was lovely, and the guys that worked the parking and pickup ares were great. I would highly recommend renting for Sixt."
