Avis Car Rental 25 Bowery Bay Boulevard, Queens, New York 11371,

"Waited 4 hours to pick up a rental car and when we got to the desk, they tried to charge us 3 times the amount that was listed on our reservation ($1,400!!!). They played dumb and said there was nothing they could do despite us showing them the email confirmation with all of the fees and total clearly listed. Thank goodness we made a back up reservation for Payless because we were able to get that one at our reserved price and cancel the other one. At least this place had a bathroom, but there was no vending machine in sight and it seems that long lines are typical. There was a starving screaming child in the facility (also waiting in line for 4 hours) and strangers were offering snacks because there was nothing available for purchase. Many people had to stand outside in the pouring rain for hours too. One star because I actually got a car to get the heck out of there, otherwise, it would be zero."

"Upon going home, I noticed on my receipt that I was charged a Fuel Service Fee of $47.57, when I never requested any type of Fuel Service and declined the fuel option at the front desk. I filled the tank on my own minutes before returning the vehicle and it was a full tank. I am attaching the receipt and picture of the fuel level shown on the car upon me returning it. You can see the time stamp on the photo AND at the time that the gas receipt transaction was done. I also saw that a hidden fee of $46.25 was added as a Concession Recovery Fee. I don't appreciate this, as my already high rate for this car rental ballooned to almost $100 more than what I initially reserved it for when I PREPAID this transaction. As a Preferred Plus member, I was incredibly frustrated because when I went to pick up my vehicle, I was told that only a pick-up truck was available, despite the fact that I had a PREPAID RESERVATION for a smaller SUV (Rav4 or Similar). I reluctantly agreed to drive the pick-up truck but a few mins after driving off with it, I felt uncomfortable driving that big of a vehicle with my toddler in the back seat. So I returned the vehicle and then had to wait an additional hour until they finally had a BIGGER SUV ready for me. So Avis is able to sneak in fees for me to pay, but does not have the courtesy to reimburse me for my time and energy spent at this location waiting for a car to be ready. And then charges me excess fees and a Fuel Service fee option that I declined. This kind of fraudulent behavior will be reported to the Better Business Bureau. This is unacceptable and just bad business. $560 for a 2-day rental is borderline criminal and you should be ashamed to tack on all of those fees and not reimburse me in any way for all of the inconveniences that were placed on me by this location."

"As an Avis Presidents Club Member I expect a quality and presentable car. I can go to a low budget car rental place for the types of vehicle I been assigned lately for half the price."

"I won't use Avis ever again; they want you to add your wizard number to the reservation, but then you call and try to do that, and I'm told its going to cost $36 to add an account number to my existing reservation. Guess what? I deleted my account. Never again. Edit: the original review was made before arriving. It only gets worse. This location is a complete disaster. Waited in line for 2 hours waiting for a rental that we were told through email/app “just arrive and pick out the car off the lot” yeah didn’t happen. Everyone who waited on line ended up coming back in multiple times with some sort of issue. After waiting in line for hours, you had to wait for your car to come out the car wash, no car seat like our reservation had too. A huge disaster! DO NOT RENT HERE"

"Take pictures of your vehicle before leaving avis plus check your milage. So that you don't get charged for someone else damage to the vehicle. Great place for a rental. Patience is the key"
