"The food was amazing & the owner and general made us feel at home. I had the shrimp & cheese grits with lobster on the side 10/10 will be back when we come back! Thanks for the amazing experience ."
"This had to be one of the best overall experience I’ve had in New York City . The owner is so respectful, sweet, attentive, and friendly. Everything was perfect. The food was a ten , no long wait. Just perfect ."
"I love supporting black establishments ! The same grace we give popular restaurants in the city that serve us with salt and pepper seasoned steak….. is the same grace we need to support our black people with. This establishment was fantastic. I had the best server and the drinks were amazing. My favorite is the salmon cake & lamb chops dinner. You’ll enjoy here it is definitely a vibe I recommend."
"We went on a Wednesday for the $10 Wednesday special. When I got to the door apparently it ended by 9pm, so we couldn’t take advantage of it. We decided to give it a try anyway to support and try a new place in BK. By the end of the night, I wish we caught the $10 Wednesday special to feel a bit better about paying more relative to the overall experience. The first waitress we had was nice, however — service was questionable throughout the night. I ordered a poundtown and it came to me as a blue/greenish drink with blue curaçao in it, which I don’t drink (forgot to take a pic of it before they took it back). I wouldn’t have ordered it if the menu mentioned that it came with blue curaçao. Waitress asked bartender to remake it the correct way for me with the proper ingredients mentioned on the menu, which I appreciated. It came back waayyy better. The menu-based version of the poundtown was better and I recommend it. I enjoyed that drink more than the first/modified one they brought to me with the blue/greenish color. Menu they provide via QR code in the restaurant was different than the one I found online on their IG page prior to going there. Looks like the lobster grilled cheese, curry oxtail and a handful of other items I was looking forward to wasn’t on the menu they provided via QR code once we sat down vs the one we saw online (which drew us to this place to begin with). I don’t know if they only offer it on select nights, but I was very disappointed to see that those items weren’t on the menu they gave to us via QR code after we sat. I ordered the salmon burger which came with fries. the brioche bun was chewy, so I guess it may have been sitting out for a while? Salmon burger patty itself came out nice and hot but I wish it was seasoned. It was pretty bland which I didn’t expect and it surprised me because the IG pics and vids presented food that looked well seasoned and tasty. However, the fries were good — I liked them a lot. When the bill came they mentioned a lot of fees/charges that weren’t mentioned by the waitress or on the menu attached to the QR code they gave, such as auto gratuity (15%) and a surcharge if you choose to pay for your bill with a card instead of cash. I didn’t mind the auto gratuity going to our first waitress because she was nice but the second one we had did not have a pleasant aura or attitude about her. Hoping the shot gratuity went to the first waitress that was nice. In conclusion, there’s a big chance I personally wouldnt go back to this place — especially for food. At most, I’d go back just for a drink bc the menu based version of the poundtown was better and It made me feel like their other drinks could be good as well. I absolutely recommend coming here during happy hour time ONLY (if you can) to maximize the value of what you may be spending vs. the type of service you should/may expect and the auto gratuity and card surcharge instantly factored into what you’re already paying."
"Velvet Room Restaurant|Bar|Lounge in Brooklyn, NY is a vibrant gem! The hostess was incredibly helpful, guiding us through their daily specials and recommending dishes tailored to our taste. The lively atmosphere; adorned with captivating mural paintings, coupled with a mix of music from classic favorites to modern hits , which made our dining experience truly enjoyable. Also. I must give a shoutout to the chef for their incredible homemade sauce - I wish they sold it by the bottle! Can't wait to return for another flavorful journey."
