Blair Plastic Surgery

"I have been a patient for over three years now. I have Stage 4 breast cancer (diagnosed May 2021) and needed a double bilateral mastectomy and lymphectomy in my right arm. Loutons only part of my 13 hour surgery was to insert expanders for future reconstruction. Two weeks after my mastectomy, I developed a severe infection and needed a second surgery to remove the expanders. Over the course of three years, I’ve had two open wounds needing a double wound vac and too many drains to count. After so many complications, I decided not to do reconstruction; I just wanted my chest smoothed out. On June 18, 2024, instead of doing a small incision and liposuction to flatten a small “blip” of skin on my left side that was poking out, Louton instead decided to cut me open so he could remove more “gunk” from my chest. Immediately a painful sernoma developed where I was cut. The drain that was inserted, was pulled out two days after the procedure. The sernoma grew to be a huge golf ball sized, hard, painful lump sticking out of the middle of my chest. In the past seven weeks, I’ve had the sernoma “tapped” three times to remove the fluid; I’ve had three worthless drains inserted; and my “blip” is now twice as big, hard as a rock, painful and still oozing puss. Last week this sernoma was so painful I ended up in the ER. The next day I saw Louton who was hostile, condescending and extremely rude to me after three years of being my doctor. I wanted the infected, non functioning drain removed because it was increasing my nerve pain and I knew it wasn’t draining anything. The drain itself was covered and surrounded by yellow puss which the ER cultured. I have not received the results of my culture either btw. I wanted the drain removed and Louton started to be condescending and hostile. I asked him about my options before removing the drain and he said that “I backed him into a corner and he was just taking it out.” He proceeded to pull out the drain and said nothing. I sat there looking down at my oozing wound sobbing and upset because this lump was supposed to be removed before my sons upcoming wedding and now the lump was larger, harder and oozing puss. Louton and the nurse said nothing and did nothing while I sat there sobbing and deflated. I finally said I was getting dressed and leaving and then Louton finally told the nurse to bandage me. My sernoma was full of fluid that didn’t drain out of the worthless, non functioning drain and Louton made no attempt to tap it or correct this problem. He just yanked out the drain and sent me home. He was hostile, rude, and had no empathy for my pain and suffering. He refused to accept culpability for the ongoing issues I experienced for over seven weeks. The day after the drain was removed, I felt immediate relief and I’ve been putting pressure on the wound to manually drain it myself. I really loved the staff at Blair Plastic and over the course of three years in surgeries and treatment, I felt like family. After this most recent incident, and Louton’s ignorant treatment of me, I’m severing this relationship and I will be seeking a second opinion. I will never go back there again. I will not be treated like that. I’ve been through hell and I’ve suffered and I don’t deserve his frustration and ignorance. Goodbye Jess and the wonderful staff excluding the arrogant Louton. I would give the staff five stars and Louton deserves only two. UPDATE: I just received my lab results because I literally had to drive to the hospital to get them and they did not forward them to Louton either. I have a major staph infection that could have been potentially deadly if he left that infected drain in."
