MJ's Bar and Restaurant

"This is a really creative place, and has multiple identities wrapped into one cozy restaurant. The bar seating, window seating, standard seating, and seating near the entrance all feel like you are at a subtly different restaurant. In a good way, there is a very "hipster" appeal to this place, like you are eating in Ithaca in the 2000s-2010s. Food is dang good, and creative. For people looking for standard meals, such as a burger, it is wonderful. For more unusual meals, they have a tuna poke bowl that uses blue jasmine rice and consists of a marbling of wonderful flavors. Even simple things, like their guacamole and queso dips are excellent. Lastly, service is always impeccable. Never overbearing, but always balanced and tentative."

"Fabulous restaurant that’s right on the water. Our food was delicious and so were the drinks! It didn’t hurt to have the best weather either. Staff were very friendly. Our Air B&B host recommended this place among all others in the area."

"This was my first time eating here. We were in Owego for my nephew's All-Star game, and we all decided to eat here. The people I was with had eaten here in the past, so they knew what to order. Everything we had was very good. I'm sure we'll be back again at some point."

"Just a gem! We stopped through here and were so impressed by everything about this establishment. The food was great, quality ingredients and presentation for reasonable prices. We tried sandwiches from the “bigger plates” section, and both “The plant” and the Cuban were incredible, with fantastic options for sides ( the MJ’s fries and heavenly hash can’t be beat). The cocktails and the beer selection are tasty and creative, there’s something for everyone. The patio space enhanced the entire experience. A gorgeous view of the river in cozy digs, this place has really thought it all through. The service was impeccable and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. This is certainly somewhere that will not disappoint!"

"Talk about a hidden gem. It looks like a home, not a restaurant from the street. If it didn't have a nearly full parking lot, you'd never know it was a place of business. It has a small sign by the road with "M J" nearly hidden in a coat of armor. I had the chef's special, pulled pork with Cole slaw on top. Messy, yes, delicious, yes. It was excellent and came with fries with fettuccine sprinkled on top of them. Very nice rustic interior with outdoor seating overlooking the Susquehanna River open in nice weather. My server was friendly, helpful and took good care of us. My first visit, it won't be my last."
