Reviews
"Like many others have said the prices are a little on the high end but pretty decent selection and some very nice rarities which might be more of the baring if that's more your focus. Nice that they have the pressing labeled on some of the vinyl which makes it easier to catalog but I did find 1 of the 4 albums was a slightly different pressing than labeled. The quality vs cost is pretty reflective even though a bit on the high end."
"I'm an incredibly new record collector/owner so maybe I can't be as critical as others but I walked away with an armful of steals and a positive experience. I had so much fun looking at everything and I found some good deals compared to other shops/online when I looked. Some of the albums I snagged were in phenomenal condition and I was surprised how reasonably priced they were. I am so happy to have something like Rabbit Hole Records close to home and can't wait to go back!"
"I didn't even get to formally enter the store and the reviews already check out. Tried calling this place multiple times an hour before they closed to inquire about specific products that they could potentially confirm/hold for me since I knew my timing would be cutting it on the closer end to when they close and wanted to save the limited time I'd have in the store. All calls went completely unanswered, so I had a feeling they might have been closed on the day in question. When I arrived 10 mins before they closed , door was already locked, but I saw the lights on, so I knocked. A dude answered, who I presumed was the same dude referenced in all the reviews, and he told me they're closed very bluntly. I asked if it's normal for them to close early and that I tried calling earlier. Dude said "no, we close at 8". I showed him the time and it was 7:51. He said something like "it might as well be 8", and said he had to go, without any sort of acknowledgement to my attempted calls, the actual time, or having any sort of sympathy. I tried asking him about the very specific products and said I could literally just purchase them right then and there if he could confirm them, but he didn't want to bother at all and just closed the door on my face. I'm assuming if I actually made it inside, all the prices would have been jacked up anyway and incorrect versions of records displayed, so maybe it was a blessing in disguise. But I'd say to avoid this place because the reviews seem very accurate, and I say that without even having the opportunity to shop here. Place gets what they deserve."
"First time at Rabbit Hole Records and also new to vinyl. I was overwhelmed by the incredible selection that they had. This was not a box on the floor of a second hand store marked 3 for $10. This wasn't even the CD Warehouse down the road with some hidden diamonds in a lot of rough. This place is one flip of the finger after another of incredible album cover after album cover. As mentioned in a previous review, all of the albums seemed to be well researched and a little overpriced. (Another customer had an aside with me about how he had found their prices to be a bit high compared to two places in PGH) But because of how novel this all is for me, I don't mind a couple extra dollars to not sift through junk and see a lot of rarer albums in one place. It seemed like a good place to learn what these cuts that I can't afford look and feel like. I found one in particular that I was excited about. Led Zeppelin's In Through the Out Door. It was marked 1979 US Monarch Press VG/VG. I purchased it and took it home. Once again I've only collected records for a week, but it took me five minutes of research to see that it was a Presswell pressing and not a Monarch. So I would assume that anyone who buys and sells records saw that it was too and marked it Monarch instead of Presswell because monarch is more sought after and therefore more valuable. And this brand new collector fell for it. Of course I should have checked but at the time wouldn't have caught it anyway. I was relying on the person curating the store to be honest. Or informative about the pressing they have. I would just say buyer beware. Because there is really cool stuff in there. Make sure you know what you are looking for on the record that makes it cool. Because I found out the hard way that Rabbit Hole Records can't be trusted to label what they have honestly. Or if it's not dishonesty than it's incompetence. Either way it was really disappointing and disheartening for a new collector excited to check out a new place. I'll be back. But with a magnifying glass and discogs pulled up on my phone And I would recommend you do too."
"Neat place, the location alone is worth checking out. Definitely have a decent selection, though some of the prices seemed on the high side. Most records had been researched though, so I appreciate that. Left with a few rare records including a bootleg Jethro Tull and a Steely Dan import EP. Go follow Alice down the Rabbit Hole!"
