Reviews
"I've been going to Dr. Helfrich for two decades. He's a great guy, I always love the visit and he has helped my symptoms immensely. Recently I've been seeing his physician assistant, Devon, and she's also great. The billing department and the nurse who works with prior authorizations is also fantastic. I really can't think of anything bad to say of this practice."
"Dr. Helfrich knows the disease and he has vast experience treating all kinds of people with this disease His medical care is personal, caring and intelligent. He's a really nice guy and a really terrific doctor."
"Dr. Helfrich had always taken wonderful care of me for many years!! He was a very skilled and compassionate doctor. Within the last 5 years, I had moved out of the area to be near my son, daughter in law, and grandson. My current rheumatologist is also very skilled and compassionate. She has continued the treatment plan that Dr. Helfrich had prescribed for me. The office staff and nursing staff at Dr. Helfrich’s were also very caring and kind to me. I will always be so very thankful for Dr. Helfrich and the wonderful care he provided for me."
"Because I've been a patient with this practice for close to two decades - seen primarily by Dr. Helfrich and more recently his amazing PA-C - Devon Kosir - I have to leave a review with 5-stars (I'd leave more if I could). In a time when care is getting more rushed and both providers and patients are being caught up in expectations and demands (often beyond either's control), this office has been steadily responsive, kind, caring, and professional. The customer service/administration (from scheduling/check-in to check-out) and all medical personnel are all top-notch. Rheumatology is more of an "unknown" field in the medical world and these doctors know about strange symptoms, pain, and things that fall "outside" the norm - their care and attention (and professional expertise) is deeply appreciated by those who seek services. You won't find a better practice than this one (in my experience). Thanks to everyone here for years of excellent service."
"I do not recommend this doctor or his office for any service. In addition to the long review of their office below, my initial meeting with Dr. Helfrich was a chat that could have been a phone call. To make it worse, he prescribed a muscle relaxer that has an ingredient that I clearly noted I am allergic to!! Overall avoid his practice and this office at all costs! I reached out to Dr. Helfrich based on the reviews I saw. As a new patient, there was an extremely long wait before I could be seen. I was willing to wait because I thought his practice would be worth it, however my experience with him and his office has been awful. Dr Helfrich required blood work to be done prior to my initial meeting. I got all of the necessary blood work done and to my surprise received a large bill from Quest diagnostics for "exploratory" procedures. I'm not sure why his office had me do an exploratory procedure for an initial visit. I have been on the phone with my insurance company, Quest, and his office for the past 2 months to resolve the codes. However their office has listed every excuse from "being out side of their capacity and scope", to "it's an issue with UPMC" (not sure what UPMC billing has to do with a medical code for a procedure).. Because of their mistake (or maybe this is how they skim more money from insurance companies), I am having to deal with a financial burden and waste my days trying to resolve this."
