Reviews
"Similarly to the past 2 or 3 reviews, I wanted to make it clear that all of the reviews with shoutouts for the staff are incentivized. This one is not. I also hope that this review encourages others with poor experiences to come forward. My stay at Here Pittsburgh was none other than a waste of money. For paying nearly $1300 a month plus utilities and parking (came out to about $1500 in total), I lived in a noisy, small, unfinished environment with a garbage stench. To add, the garbage stench allowed hundreds (and I am not exaggerating) of flies to become residents of the back entrance and rear units of the building. Every complaint made to management fell onto deaf ears and in my experience, was responded to in a passive-aggressive tone. My dishwasher never worked, every maintenance request I filled out had to be followed up with a call to the office days later begging for them to come get it fixed, I could hear my neighbors through the walls and ceilings, and the residents (especially the girls that worked at the front desk…they think they ran the place….) were extremely unfriendly. The staff does not care about residents one bit, even though they present themselves to so do. The only worthwhile amenity of the building was the gym, but don’t worry, many non-residents snuck in the front door to access the gym. For free! I never leave reviews but care a lot about the University of Pittsburgh student body and hope that no student has to add to their already large debt over this place. Do yourself a favor and live at the Bridge! Or any place in South O!"
"I’ve never written a review before, but this place is so bad I felt it warranted one. Construction still wasn’t complete, and there was an obnoxious loud noise daily that would shake my furniture from them “fixing the acoustics” (it was them spraying foam into one side of the ceiling and adding a wooden board under it. It fixed NOTHING sound wise!) Also, when construction entered my room, they took a chunk out of the dry wall and I put in a maintenance request and it was marked fixed when they never fixed it. All these positive reviews are incentivized, don’t believe them. The lack of sound proofing was probably the worst part. You can hear your roommates watching TikTok’s in the next room over. Every morning I would wake up to their alarm or the sounds of them in the kitchen just simply making breakfast. I can’t stress how there is a lack of sound proofing. On to the next issue, my door to enter the apartment would not open majority of the time and I had to rely on my roommates letting me in. I put in multiple maintenance requests and was met with unwillingness to understand the cause of my fob not opening the door. There were times I would be locked out for hours because the on call lock out number they provide was going straight to voicemail, or I called Signal Security and they told me I had to wait an hour until the employee clocked in. It’s the biggest joke I’ve ever witnessed. Finally after 1.5 months they realized that my door took a different brand key fob than the one I currently had (literally how do you not know this as management ????) and they finally gave me a new one. It was so bad where I was scared to leave my apartment most days because I knew I wouldn’t be able to get back in if my roommates weren’t home, so I couldn’t even use the amenities I paid for like the gym or pool. The parking garage entrance and exit is such a tight squeeze, if you have a mid size suv or bigger car you may struggle entering due to the angle you have to swing your car in at. The trash chutes almost never work which causes people to just leave their trash bags in the trash rooms, which causes fly infestation which is disgusting. On to the furniture, it’s cheaply made and wasn’t put together correctly, my desk drawer handle literally fell off. The rack in the closet was pulled out of the wall a significant amount when I moved in and I’m surprised it didn’t just rip out of the wall completely during my time there. The shower door doesn’t create a seal so it leaked an insane amount of water after every shower I had to put a towel down before every shower and it was always soaking wet. My bathroom door physically could not close sometimes because it was put in crooked or something. The people working in the office are so passive aggressive and rude and unwilling to help you. Most of them are college students and when you go in the office they’re sitting on their phones and act annoyed when you actually need them to do their job. The actual property managers when I was in the process of signing my lease were telling me conflicting information, and I even had to have my lease sent to me 4 different times because they kept messing details up in it, which should’ve been my first red flag to not live here. All these issues wouldn’t be so bad but when you’re paying almost $1500 a month or possibly even more, these things should not be happening. It is my strongest recommendation to NOT live at Here Pittsburgh."
"The vast majority of positive reviews on Google are fake or incentivized. I want to first say that my opinion is not being affected by the delayed move in because at this point I wish I never moved it at all. As of the middle of July 2024, the building is still not finished and there will be construction going on outside the building. The rooftop deck is not finished so while you can go up there, part of building materials are still exposed. The amenities which you are surely justifying the cost with are broken: rooftop fire pit, jacuzzi/pool, grills, trash chutes. Everything does not work and if it does, it’ll last about a week before they say that they’re working on it again. Maintenance takes a week to show up no matter the issue. Our unit had an issue where the AC was not working and the apartment temp went up to 84 degrees. After several maintenance requests and trips to the office to try and get help, we decided to go out and get the materials to fix the problem on our own. Maintenance showed up the following week and did not even ask how the problem was resolved. Furthermore, while mandatory maintenance was being conducted in every unit, a valuable gift I had in my room was broken by the maintenance people (they included a note apologizing so I know it was maintenance). When I got back to my unit it was also left trashed. Insulation was all over my bed and dirt was across the floors. If this happened in a non student apartment building there would be no one living there. The back entrance is by the dumpsters. Because of this, the elevator hallway is infested with HUNDREDS of flies. If I had the energy to take pictures I would. They have fly traps but after a few hours they’re all filled again. We pay over a thousand dollars a month to walk through fly and filth covered hallways. All in all, I would so much rather have paid $500 a month to live in a south Oakland slum house than the ridiculous amount to live here because at least that price actually shows what you’re getting."
"I love my experience at HERE! Yes it was unfortunate that the building was delayed, however, the workers here truly have a great attitude despite the situation that they have no part in. Some of these negative reviews are clearly from people who were not competent enough to read through through the entirety of their lease properly, aka a legal binding document. Angelina always gives me my packages in a timely manner, and was very helpful in showing me around the community when the property was finished."
"Living at HERE has been an overall good experience. The construction delay was the biggest drawback, but members of the leasing office were of great help. Angelina was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions and addressing my concerns. My unit has been good so far, but the walls are thin and I can hear the people above me walking all the time. The gym is definitely the best part of the building in my opinion, as it has everything you could need."
