"I can’t thank Dr. El-Kadi enough, I’m one year post back surgery and I’m able to do everything I did prior to my surgery. I healed amazing well and I feel great! Dr. El-Kadi has a fantastic bedside manner, is calm, and efficient. His staff is absolutely amazing. I’m grateful to everyone!"
"Dr. El-Kadi and his staff were absolutely amazing. I was in severe pain after herniating a disc and could barely stand or walk. I saw Dr. El-Kadi on a Tuesday, he explained everything I needed to know about surgery and added me on for Saturday surgery. His staff did everything to make sure my surgery happened in such a short amount of time. My surgery was at UPMC Passavant which I also can't say enough great things about that experience as well. Everyone was so caring and friendly. My surgery went great, I woke up pain free. I highly recommend Dr. El-Kadi to anyone looking for an amazing neurosurgeon."
"I couldn't be anymore satisfied with the way Dr. El-Kadi treated me. He explained things thoroughly about the entire procedure. He was very personable to me and my family."
"My husband has been in extreme pain down his entire left side. We had an MRI done and went to this doctor….we scheduled the appointment with him after the MRI and had to wait almost one month to see him to get a plan together. We showed up and Dr. alkadi said that my husband does need surgery but he won’t do it because my husband is type 1 diabetic and overweight so the risk of infection is high. However my husband has had numerous surgeries and never had an infection. Dr. alkadi said his practice has the lowest percentage of post op infections so he doesn’t want take a chance of changing his stats!!! Then when we were leaving he said good luck to us and then started laughing!!! I have never been so angry in all my life. He won’t do surgery because he doesn’t want to change his stats?? Who does that?!? My husband has no quality of life because he can’t use his left arm, leg, etc but the doctor is more concerned with his stats??? I will never recommend anyone to him, he’s only interested in fixing people that are the perfect scenario and have no risk of infection which is just so wrong."
"Dr. El Kadi’s practice was awesome in every aspect! When I think of what I want in a neurosurgeon who is going to work on my back in a “I only get one shot at this” situation, I definitely want the surgeon with the highest skill, the best record for success, integrity, the best accessibility for follow-up questions and care, and who can do the procedure in a facility that is equally awesome (clean, responsive to needs, low infection rate, etc.). Dr. El Kadi and his team of PA-Cs provided all of those things, and Passavant Hospital and it’s staff were absolutely incredible. I saw Dr. El Kadi four or five times over 18 months. The first time I saw him, he told me I was a candidate for surgery, but that given my symptoms and pain at the time, he could not honestly tell me that he could improve my overall quality of life. Score one for him for integrity. He prescribed several other treatments though and I went on my way, saddened there wasn’t a “surgical fix”, but pleased I was not going to have a surgery that would lead to no improvement and possibly regression. Symptoms and pain worsened, so on the second visit I was still a candidate for surgery, but Dr. El Kadi recommended pain management/injections. Score another point for him for being diligent in trying less invasive first. Others have told me this is more a step for insurance companies, but either way... First round of shots were wonderful, lasted three weeks, and the second round of shots were a fizzle. Third visit we discussed the surgery in detail and he spelled out the things that could go wrong, and what he felt the level of improvement would likely be. This is probably a good point to say that all situations are unique, and all patients are unique, and there are NO GUARANTEES with surgery. I’m in reasonably good shape (no big belly, not overweight) and in good health overall, and I am a rule follower to the ~nth degree. Dr. El Kadi was candid in that he felt he could at least stop the progression of pain and symptoms but he could not “guarantee” anything beyond that, and he was very clear this was MAJOR surgery requiring serious down time. The point I was at, even stopping the progression seemed like more than could be hoped for, so we scheduled the surgery. Long story short, he was right that it was major surgery… painful, four days in the hospital, my wife had to do everything for me when I got home, etc. He did however far exceed his surgical conservative prediction of only stopping the progression of symptoms. I am four weeks post surgery and ALL my pre-surgery symptoms and pain are gone! No numbness, no tingling, no pain and throbbing, I can get out of a chair without feeling like a 90 year old coal miner! I had my post-op visit last week and I cried when Laurel (one of his PA-Cs) told me I did not need to come back and that Dr. El Kadi was not there for me to thank. He has truly altered the course of my life in a most astounding way. I’ll stop short of calling it a miracle as it is science coupled with his and his team’s skill… but perhaps the miracle is that they are able to bring science and the skill together in one place at one time! Great surgeon, great team, 100 stars if I could!"
